While doing some other work on my 96 F250 I came across a remote starter module. Just wanted to ask if I could unplug it. I don't have the remote or anything so it doesn't really do me any good at this point. Thanks for your help!

If it is a remote start it is aftermarket and who knows what would happen if you disconnect it. Some of our trucks came with a remote entry but not the start.

I wonder if anyone can help me with this? I installed a remote start/alarm system on my 03 F250 super duty. It appeared to be working fine till one day it started the truck and didn't disengage the starter, Fifteen minutes later when I got to the truck I heard the noise and turned it off. It wouldn't crank afterwards and after letting cool for several hours it did indeed burn up the starter motor. After several trips to the shop it still is doing the same thing. Any ideas? TIA, Chuck. It's a Python RPN 7941 F system.

I dont see a remote starter being beneficial, especially in a diesel. I've heard way too many stories of them doing wacky ass things and causing problems. Just my opinion. Your gonna have to go outside either way so whats wrong with taking a trip to let it warm up

I just removed the crappy autopage remote start/keyless entry off my 99 f250. All i did was locate yhe control box, which was stuffed up between my fuse box and steering column. Start tracing wires. Most wires were spliced into the junction box on the steering column that goes to the ignition switch. Luckily they only stripped the insulation off the wires and didnt cut anything, but they did solder them all. I had to cut the wires from the remote start and tape up the soldered parts. That was the easy part. The hard part was tracing the wires.that run to the drivers door for the door locks. Once i found them it was just the same as under the dash. The remote start never worked right on my truck. It would short start sometimes( as in not crank long enough to start engine) and the keyless entry wouldnt allow me to lock the doors it the truck was running. I hope.i never own another vehicle with that on there
