hello everyone im new to diesel performance, i recently bought a 2003 powerstroke f350 7.3. it has a cold air intake and exhaust with gauges, also a ts performance 6 postion chip. what i was wondering is, what will it take me to out run or run with a 6.0 with an exhaust and an sct programmer. that wont kill my pocket. thanks for all the help and info

Injectors, turbo, and a transmission.... at the bare minimum.

Sorry, but 6.0L's have us beat by a long shot with just an SCT. Takes a lot of money for ours to keep up.

But then again, we spend less money in coolant.... LOL

There is a lot of chips out there. Look into DP, diesel innovations, swamps, PHP, gearhead, there is a ton. Just look at the sponsor page and search through them. There are better then TS out there

A 6.0 will definately get to the mall faster. Hook it up to a gooseneck with a backhoe on it and it will get to the repair shop pretty fast too.

:hehe::hehe: Yea, uh huh..... I've never had any issues in 100k pulling 25k combine up 8% graded mountains??? I guess I'm one of the lucky ones right... And I guarantee my stock 6.0 will walk on a stock 7.3 towin too...

does your buddy with the sct have studs cuz you might just be able to run him around town a bit at the lights, get those heads heated a lil. and then hit the on ramp and about the time he starts blowing blue/ white smoke you'll probly beat him LOL

The 6.0 with an sct is liable to be anywhere from 380-420 rwhp. A stock injectored 7.3 is going ot struggle to get much past 320, and some wont get there. Youll be looking at a mild set of injectors, a turbo upgrade, and potential fuel system upgrades. Then it is up to you if you want to keep the pmr rods and take a small chance (or big chance depending on tuning) or swap out for forged.

If you go with forged rods, a set of 230-250cc hybrids, a turbo upgrade, fuel system, head studs, and transmission will get you in the 450-500 range.

ya a 6.0 can be a bad mofo...so can a 7.3 but the 6.0 will have the power advantage.

Your post was about how reliable your 6.0 is, and how that was the standard for the vt365. A loosing argument when compared to the 7.3, sorry...

Now when compared to hp gained for dollars spent...yeah the 6.0 is superior, and the 6.4 to it. No revalation there.
