blown egr cooler, lots of white smoke out exhaust, high engine temps, fan running alot. low power and soon enough a coolant reservoir full of oil!!!

Clogged no. Ruptured yes. Drove it for over a year seaping oil into the coolant. It ruptured from running the motor out of coolant. I had to keep up with some bikes on the highway. The original EGR cooler is still getting coolant pumped through it.

No symptoms other than the wrench light.....probably caught mine real early

wrench light? Usually thats just for the throttle pedal... maybe your oil got so hot it started to defuel... I have never seen a wrench light on.. only on trucks with TPS problems.. maybe its tied in with defueling

I believe on the later reflashes it was introduced when oil temp and coolant temps differed to much.

All the coolers I have seen showed either oil in the coolant or excessive fan cycling on exsoecially when towing and killing major power!

I find it funny the few times my truck has run like total crap I have never had a wrench light
Only symptoms I noticed was the fan coming on occasionally at what seemed like random points. Stock gauges showed nothing and aftermarket gauges would show normal ranges when the fan was on. However when running down the highway empty anything over 65mph I would start seeing oil temps climb. First time I caught it I was running 80mph and saw the oil temp at 230° and coolant just creeping up to 200° Backed it down to 65mph for the rest of my trip and could hold them within 10° of each other but they were both higher than the normal 190° temp they had always been running. Bought an oil cooler to replace it while other people were telling me to punch out my gauges and ignore them bought a month after buying the cooler (without rebuilding it) the EGR cooler ruptured and motor started hydrolocking when parked. Stripped it down to the gaskets and they were shot as well so it got HG's, studs, oil cooler, and EGR delete. Also through the STC fitting at it and new o-rings while it was apart.
