Re: Intake spyder Sludge??
CCV mod. get the oil to stop going into the intake.
then well.. time or you can remove the IC, empty a few cans of brake keen... swish around for a few min... dump out allow to dry for a few days. i did the ccv mod 5K miles ago, pulled the tubro off a month ago and there was puddles of oil in the ic piping and spider. theres oil in the IC, slowly working its way out. and its the same in your case.

Re: Intake spyder Sludge??
pull the intercooler out and wash it out with a heavy duty degreaser. then just need to dry it out before you install it and hook it back up i usually just set mine up infront of a torpedo heater and let it warm up till all the water dries out of it. usually takes a couple hours total.

Re: Intake spyder Sludge??
normally, in the case of excessive oil into the IC... then being draw in into the air intake will cause an over speed. quite spectacular on the Detroit V92 2 stroke diesels, when there idling they will pullde up oil... as soon as u blow enough boost into the ic.. yeah, all hell comes apart.
if it's watery, wich there might be a little bit of condensation it could possibly cause hesitation if your at the point just before making boost, therotecially speeking, the most amount of air you can flow before you have a back up (boost) the engine would choke on the water. hence with Water/meth, you only want to inject it above ## LB boost. or it will choke the engine if your in a hurry, which is never a good thing.. IMO. you could try a trick i thought of.. route the cold side IC pipe away using a decent strength duckting hose, to direct air away from the engine intake, dump some brake or carb kleen into the IC on the hot side. place a airfilter on the intake spyder to keep any #### from getting sucked in. and allow the cleaner to set for a few, start the truck and let it idle. rev it up to a safe area... watch EGT's!!!!! quite the flow of air through it for an extended period of time, should remove the oil and the cleeaner, yes the cleaner is very flammable to be going into the intake. and probably not so good for the IC boots. if someone wants to chime in on the idea... that would be appreciated. makes cleaning out the guts a bit easier... but how effective and practical, i dont know. but it's a brain child thought. -discuss? |
