straight piping 08 ford 6.4 f350/250

i heard that if you straight pipe a 08 ford 6.4 f350/250 they won't start or that they will be as quiet as they are stock. is this true or will they sound like any other powerstroke?

It'll go into limp mode. You need a custom tune like Spartan or SCT to run it correctly.

By straight pipe do you mean just the muffler or the whole system? If you do the entire system, you will need the proper electronics to defeat regen as well as the trouble codes associated with the DOC/DPF. Let me know if theres anything I can help with.

A likely reason it would not start is if you unplug the sensors. A Delete pipe will have all of the fittings for the sensors to go right back in. You will need both the delete pipe and a DPF delete tuner to do it correctly. They actully sound like a diesel truck once you straight pipe it.

okay. so if i have a SCT live wire tuner on how long untill my tranny will blow? if i just drive normally and not floor it everywhere i go.

the 6.4 trannys are capable of holdin upwards of 600 hp before they go...if all your doin is a tuner and a DPF delete you should be ok..if u dog it non stop then you might run into some problems.

with proper tuning he can "dog" it everywhere he goes and it wont hurt it

No worries with the SCT, you will be just fine.
