OBS water pump

my water pump seems to be leaking from the weep hole it only does it when not running. it is a pretty steady leak. pressure tested it and the pressure held for 20 mins without dropping. Could I use some stop leak orr just replace it. also what is the eaisest process to remove it.

Re: OBS water pump

Just replace it.... You will need the tools for the fan clutch that you can get from most auto part stores. It reallu is a pretty easy job..... Oh and get one from Ford, Not Autozone, Checkers,ETC.

Re: OBS water pump

Will the IH 444 version fit? I understand it has a coolant filter on it.

Re: OBS water pump

I believe there is a writeup on TDS about doing the IH waterpump with filter install into an OBS. You have to modify the pump by chopping it a bit and find a serpentine belt but nothing major.

Re: OBS water pump

You can also use a air hammer or a hammer and a punch to break the fan nut loose. I have replaced bout 5 water pumps on OBS never had a special wrench.

Re: OBS water pump

There is a possibility of that jacking up the pump bearings but I think is semi remote.
