Another dead starter... swap parts?

Well, the bendix went bad on one truck a couple years ago. I bought a replacement starter off eBay - a twin to the factory one (a Mitsubishi).

The mounted solenoid or the motor itself died a few days ago. Solenoid pulls in hard (good "snap"), but the starter motor don't run. Either the contacts are trashed or the starter motor itself is toast.

Thing is, this one has a good bendix; the other one a good motor / solenoid.

Anybody ever tried taking one of these apart? It looked like the bendix was all made into the endframe of the starter motor...

I meant the solenoid on the top of the starter motor. I meant to say you can jump across the fender mount starter solenoid and hear the one on the starter motor snap in pretty good.

messed with it today, either brushes are bad in the starter motor, or the starter mount solenoid contacts are trashed and it won't pass enough current to run the starter, only roll the bendix out. What I was hearing was actually the starter motor making an attempt to start and snapping the bendix out.

New starter on the way...
