On our way to a defenseless nation
we are on our way to a defenseless nation, first we find our selves spending tons of money on pork but we cut funding for our "missle defense" now here is an article on obama stopping the developement of the next generation of bombers which would be critical in the defense of our nation. I get this from my senator, who is on the senate armed services committee...here is an article from one of his newsletters he sends to his constituents.
Thune Urges Continued Funding for Next Generation Bomber Senator Thune recently joined a bipartisan group of his colleagues in sending a letter to President Obama calling on him to continue funding the development of the Next Generation Bomber. In March, the Obama Administration reportedly gave the Pentagon guidance to cancel plans for the Next Generation Bomber. Earlier this month, the Obama Administration said it would delay plans for the bomber until after further investigation into the need for this aircraft. The Next Generation Bomber program, which was previously scheduled to be completed by 2018, is critical to the future of our nation’s long-range strike capabilities. Ellsworth Air Force Base is a contender to be a home base for the new bomber, and if selected, the base’s future would be secure well into the 21st Century. The future national security interests of the United States are also at stake. Longer-range systems such as the Next Generation Bomber will be critical in countering future threats, especially due to the increasing age of our current bomber fleet, almost half of which dates back to the Cuban Missile Crisis. As the ranking member for the Senate Armed Services Committee’s Airland Subcommittee, Senator Thune will continue working to ensure this program proceeds as planned. Funding for the Next Generation Bomber, and other vital national security programs, should not be raided to pay for the out-of-control spending habits that have come to define Washington. |
