I like where I have mine, but not sure if I would go through all the work to get it up there next time around.
I have gotten rid of the gap between the console and the headliner, and also have the mic mounted to the drivers side of the console. This is in an 05 truck which I think is the first year for that style overhead console though.
Here's mine, I just slapped it in there because I haven't had a radio for a while since it got stolen, but anyways I still have some work to do to it. I'll get a better pic today.
I'm missing the trim ring for the radio and I have to figure out a way to put some trim around the rest of it. But you can see the top where I ground it down and slipped a little bit but it'll be covered up soon.
.... Its very tricky.. Well my antenna wire (I have dual antennas) won't to the left or to the right of that bracket so I split the two wires, so it keeps it center. And then I put velcro down the bracket and the bottom of the cb and and did the same in between the cb and the radio. When I have the time, I'm going to try and figure out a way to make a proper bracket, But thats it and its really stable, I'm hoping I don't have to take it out for something stupid.
Hmmm, I thought there'd be more to it. I've got a Galaxy 919 that should be about the same size as yours. I've thought about doing something like that, but never tried hard enough to make it work. Other idea I had was cutting out the cubby and mounting it there, or removing the cup-thrower and putting it in there.
Me too, a friend told me that I might be able to use the bezel from a Dodge Caravan but I'm looking into right now... I dunno even know what year they started making them but I'll find out.
Been a while since anything has happened in this thread...
I made a new mount a couple weeks back when I mounted 2 new radios in my truck...have a Cobra 25 and a Yaesau FT2800 in there now...I'll get some pics when the truck is cleaner.
