Is there a way to disable it? I'm going to gut it eventually but that hissing is really annoying sometimes. And will it still go to high idle if i disable it?
yes you can disable it. It will always high idel there is a plug that plugs into the ebpv under its got a steel clip on it just flip that clip and unplug, you may trip a code when unplugged but dont worry about it.
Depends. Do you have a Republik of Kalifornia system or regular? If you have a Glow Plug Relay, you are safe. Excursions and some trucks were Kalifornia trucks and so they have the module and hyper sensitivity when any sensors are offline. Take mine off and it WILL trip the SES light.
My ECM is a ROC style and if I am not mistaken, I have the GP Module not the relay and it is more sensitive to missing sensors. If you don't want the EBPV to activate, you can disconnect the air temp sensor in the airbox. If I did that, it would definitely trip a code and have the SES light. I think the best test is whether you have a Glow Plug Relay or Module.
My truck was born and has stayed in TN thankfully. So how do you go about getting around the ROK system, throw some resitors in there and get rid of all that stuff?
What is the point of it anyways how does it help with emissions?
I can deal with that, all I get now is the AIH delete code. What all is required to delete it properly? My pedistal is leaking and I am looking at just deleting the entire thing I know the non EBPV pedistal but what else?
Talk to SP Diesel. Tell them you want to keep the EBPV Sensor but want to take out the EBPV itself. They have 2 dongles. One forth Sensor and one for the Valve itself.
the butter fly has 2 rivets holding it on the rod..grind them off pull the flapper off..on the actuator end of the rod i pulled the C clip and slid the rod out..took some twisting and turning to get it out..went to Napa and got a 3/4 inch freeze plug and put it in the hole i took the rod out of.. its only been about a month. and it was expensive..a whole 3 bucks lol...but so far so good..i do get a soft code..i have a resistor on the way to fix that..
So what is the benifit of buying a non ebpv pedistal instead of doing it this way and saving alot more money? I thought you have had your pedistal deleted longer then that Ron?
if you do a delete you will totally remove the butterfly valve in side the turbo which will allow more exhaust gases to escape. which will reduce egt's.
I think I paid about $500 for the new van turbo. I didn't do anything else to it. ITP told me that if I had surge I should add the ATS housing. No surge yet.
I have a WW in my truck now and I don't have any surge. I am thinking about getting a van turbo and adding the ATS housing but I am not for sure yet. Alot cheaper then a garratt drop in thats for sure.
From what I understand, only if you get surge should you install the housing. That should be simple seeing as how we don't have to screw with the EBPV anymore if you need to remove the housing.
Justin..i did mine when i put the injectors in..i hated to because i just rebuilt it last fall and it didnt leak a drop..i still have the plunger for the pedistal..i got it from Bob at dieselsite last april..like i said... it didnt leak a drop and the orings still look good..if you want it..PM me your address...might be worth a try..
if you want to try to save the EBPV..i will send it out and you try it..make sure it works..i cant see why it wouldnt..i didnt use my EBPV all that much..so it should be in good shape...
It should be, good you haven't had it on there long though because I remember when you converted your late 99 turbo. just PM me how much you want for it.
