check out guzzles site, its a sticky at the top of the aftermarket and performance section hes got a detailed write up on several diy mods.
Easy things to do-
DIY Airfilter/intake
crankcase vent mod will help keep oil out of the IC
hutch mod- mods the pickup in the bottom of the fuel tank to keep less air from getting into your fuel lines
HP oil crossover line i know it equalized the pressure between the rails and quiets the truck not sure if its a power advantage.
things to buy for your truck..
Get a chip most people run the F5 chip by DP tuner, theyre pretty awesome people great customer service and most people here swear by them.
Get gauges to monitor the vitals necessary if youre running any kind of chip.
theres the basics. im sure more knowledgeable people will chime in on performance advantages to whatever mods...
oh and the most important mod... is the fat wallet mod.... the fatter the wallet the more mods you can do... good luck.

Wow i checked out guzzles site and yr right, lots of great info
and thx for suggesting the resitor mod ive tryed that and didnt like it, seemed to make my truck harder to start
yea Ive done the muff thing, only i cut off from the muff back and then cut off my tail pipe at the bend and welded it where the muff was now it dumps out right in front of the rear tire. I love it, NEIGHBOR'S hate it especially at AM when I'm letting it warm up and it sounds like a plane ready for take off.
next will be the diy Tamar.
anyone have any input one the tc lock-up, good/bad anything?
im sure its on here somewhere, but i found it awile back when i googled "7.3 10k mod" if im not mistaken it does the same as a chip. when i did it it made my truck idle like crap and killed my mileage.
currently im just running a stock straight pipe and i know i need to change the stock downpipe, How much diff would it sound with a 4'' down and a single stack?
Good or Bad ?
Thanx for the imfo but as i read the info on the website you gaveme I see its more or less a cheaper way to do what the edge ez does .But not to sure about that.Whats the foil delete mod. Canadian dont' understand your terms for stuff lol.
You can have a little fun every where on this site, just keep is little up here in the serious sections. It is what sets us apart from a lot of other sites.
Gutterguy. The foil delete mod is pointless... it doesn't give you any power and it's sort of a pain in the azz. But it does let you hear your turbo much better. To do it, look at your hot side intercooler tube, it has tin foil looking stuff on it... you just take that stuff off.
Good luck getting a straight answer on that... I researched all over and i'm still not sure... i'm gonna do it because i've never heard anyone say it LOST power...
I think you're thinking of the 10k mod... the IDM mod is different. More difficult and in-depth. I did the 10k stacked with a cheap programmer and it felt decent, but nothing like a real chip like mine from Diesel Innovations.
Well, we have a Larry's Black Box in our Excursion. Linked to a variable pot in the cab. Makes a noticeable difference. It links into the IDM I think. Stacks well with a Superchips programmer. lol. We don't use that too much.
I have done 5 resistor mods 4 superdutys and one obs. It is tricky but I cut down on the time after the 3rd one. In my buddys completely stock 01 cc sb with a 5 inch lift 35's and a 6 speed you could tell a differance. It would pickup better it ran smoother and milage went up about 3/4 mpg better. My truck it ildes smoother and helped with milage. You won't feel power like puttin a chip in it but it does help with running better. Not a bad up grade if you know what you are doing, if not you can spend some money to have it done or buy yourself a new IDM.
