Exhaust for EX

Just curious about the question on the other post. How's the MBRP sound inside an Excursion? I've been thinking about the MBRP as well but am more curious about the possibility of a resonance inside the cab. Proper fitment is crucial as well. Thanks.

Re: Exhaust for EX

They are not loud inside the cab at all. You can tell it has an aftermarket exhaust on it, but its not what I would consider loud. Also, fitment is very good with MBRP. If you want something a little less aggressive sounding, I suggest looking at MBRP.

Re: Exhaust for EX

I like the MBRP exhaust, I've had if for about two years. I paid about the same for my system. I just checked dieselmanor.com and they are about $495 for the system plus $53 for the fancy tip. They aren't a sponsor here, wish they were. I have had really good service from them.

I like the sound, it balances the engine and exhaust sounds volume wise. It is a throatier sound than stock, a little more like a chevy 350 with glass packs, but not quite as loud.

Based on MBRP's descriptions I put the dimple openings in the muffler facing the rear (quieter in the cab, louder at the tailpipe).

I don't have much trouble with drone. Except when the back is completely empty, I sometimes hear some drone at around 55, but that isn't a speed I drive very much.

Re: Exhaust for EX

There is a slight Drone, I intend to sound proof the the Excursion to eliminate it completely, it's really not bad. The soundproofing also helps insulate for cold & heat. I've only had one whiner person ever complain in 2 or 3 years. Most most of my friends from church (we pack 9 in there) are glad I'll drive & say it's not noticable.

Thanks for the replies. Here in a month or so I'll be purchasing an exhaust.

Re: Exhaust for EX

MBRP here too, running their muffler and no cat, and its barely noticeable inside until you go WOT.

Re: Exhaust for EX

Another vote for MBRP. I have installed several and they always Fit right the first time. Great quality control. Tried one brand brand X with duals and it went all bad. Took it to a muffler shop, and they couldn't make it fit. As for inside noise, that is a weird one on the Exc. On my personal X, no change in cab noise. On a friends, he has a lot of cab noise. Exact same exhaust setup. ???
