Re: Well another EGR delete, oil cooler replacement
I feel like a broken record here. I just did this job last month and have been reply to threads regarding the EGR delete job.
Going that deep, you might as well get the STC fitting done on the high pressure oil pump as well as the stand pipes and dummy plugs. 6.4l Banjos are also somethign to think about too. Get the intake manifold cleaned out, I am sure it will look like somebody took a crap in it. While the turbo is out, I would open her up and clean her. Upon reassembly, make sure the fit is tight. I over looked this, had a turbo leak, and had to take the turbo out and used a set of pliars crimp the two sides together real well. To get to the STC fitting in the HPOP, you will need this tool or something similar: OTC 6765 OTC6765 OTC TOOLS 6765 - Ford 6.0 IPR Inject Pressure Regulator Socket Hope this helps! |

Re: Well another EGR delete, oil cooler replacement
Yeah thats what I wanted to ask cleaning the intake manifold. I took the EGR valve out and man there is a ton of gunk in their. Whats the best way to clean it. Im doing this job in hopefully a day no more than two (cant have my truck down for long). So I cant send it off the get cleaned or anything. Any tips cleaning that would be help full.
Banjo bolts ordered. Im not going to do the HPOP hopefully i dont regret that. |

Re: Well another EGR delete, oil cooler replacement
If you have a 2003, then you don't have the dummy plugs, stand pipes, or STC fitting to worry about from what I understand. U won't need that tool either.
I sent my manifold to a machine shop to get cleaned, only took like an hour. If I were to do it my self, I would use easy off and a pressure washer. lol Easy off is just amazing; it turns soot in to gew that just runs off. I used it to clean my oil cooler housing cuz degreaser and brake cleaner couldn't hack it. Looked brand new afterwards. BTW, your oil cooler housing should really be cleaned upon reassembly to avoid contamination too. If you don't have a pressure washer, hot water would probably work just as well if not better. It really just depend how bad it is. Definately grab a few cans of that stuff, u might have to it more than once. Also, make sure you unsrew the sensor on the right rail, I think it's an air temp sensor? If yours is anything like mine, it will be covered in crud. Sensor safe spray to clean it and reinstall it. Also, clean the egr valve and reinstall it, don't throw it away. |

Re: Well another EGR delete, oil cooler replacement
yeah if i had an olddishwasher that i didnt use that would be a good idea.
Ordered everything today!!! im excited now couple things about the SCT tuner if i run an xtreme tune am i going to be screwed without ARPs done. Truck has never had a problems till now 184k. I would like an xtreme tune because i have heard guys are getting the best mpgs. with these. I pretty much drive like a granny except when pulling into traffic or passing then i get on it. Plus I have a scanguage2 and boost, egt, fuel pressure, and trans temp so im like gauge overload ( i like to know whats going on). |

Dont forgot tk replace the oil pick up screen under the oil cooler. |
