injector solenoid ?

ok so on a buzz test on my truck some of the injectors can harely be heard. my question is can they be changed out with good sounding ones and can there be any performance gains?

A solenoid that is not functioning correctly is going to cause a loss in the performance of the engine. My advice would be to verify that the UVCH harnesses are in good condition first before you go replacing solenoids. Also check and make sure that the connections on both sides of the valve cover gaskets are unburnt and making good contact. It is very common to have burnt pins/connectors which will cause all sorts of problems.

they are not burnt i just had to pull the injectors because of blown orings. i know all the connections are in good working order.

If you measure the resistance of the injector solenoid, it should be about 2-3 ohms. Cheers!

can that be measured from the outside of the valve cover?

It is best to use an old injector pigtail to do the testing right at the injector as any extra wire is going to increase the resistance in the line.

For what a meter reads and how accurate it has to be in this case, horse hockey. You would have to either have even smaller gauge wire or lengthen the wire about 35 feet to see a difference.

Plus if the solenoid fails, it will have LESS resistance. I had one that was 0.5 ohm, the rest were 2.7-3.1 ohm. When I replaced the solenoid, it came back to 2.8 ohm.

I was always told that the noise makes no difference. You could have 8 new solenoids make 8 different noises

I was told the same thing by two reputable injector builders on this board back in 09 when I was fighting my issues.

Your right. I forgot that with all my years of electrical schooling that I don't know anything. Good luck fixing it.
