Re: Finally bought a diesel truck!!!!!!!!!

You have quite a bit of reading to do on the 6.0, there are a few things that need to be cleared up before you get the mod bug, such as:

ECT/EOT temps (delta)
EGR cooler
possible headgaskets
injector sticktion
FICM voltage

once those are all taken into consideration then you can persue mods. Most of the time a "smoking deal" means one or more of the above needs to be done.

Re: Finally bought a diesel truck!!!!!!!!!

Gaskets are great...you need head studs though. If you have those done already that is a good start.

Re: Finally bought a diesel truck!!!!!!!!!

If it is still in there get the egr out of it ASAP!!! it will save you headaches in the long run. Check to see what type of head gaskets went into it, If the black onyx ones went in you are on borrowed time my friend. Some things I have had to look into on mine and repair for that matter was, a injector that took a crap If it is bucking or missing in overdrive or smoking like a tire is on fire in the bed you have lost one or more. Put some revx through it and keep your batteries in top condition. It will save you issues with the FICM later on and in turn save injectors as well. ARP headstuds, and the blue spring mod. Key note is it is a 6.0 and it is a maintenance whore so stay on top of it and she should treat you juast fine. Oh yeah almost forgot SMOKE is a bad word around here and a 6.0 shouldnt smoke unless something is wrong anyway... Enjoy the truck I love mine.
