Re: synthetic oil?
Nope....switch around as much as you want.
Personally I have used synthetics since 20k on the truck. Now with 215k on the original injectors it's a no-brainer for me.

Re: synthetic oil?
No need to keep using it but, once you've tried it, you'll never go back. The Rotella T6 5-40 made such a difference in my 6.0, it's like a whole different truck. And it didn't take long to tell it. Of course, with 175,000 miles anything is an improvement. After about 1000 miles with the T6, I added 8oz of Rev-X. Then I REALLY saw a difference.

Re: synthetic oil?
it might take more than a single oil change for synthetic to be free of the leftover garbage from natural oil. It took me a dose of RevX and a second synthetic change before the effects of the natural oil stopped being evident (rough running, smoke, and hard starting when cold). After getting rid of it, NO WAY would I put that stuff back in my engine.

Re: synthetic oil?
The fact that the oil is pressurized higher than commercial pressure washers and at the same time is being subjected to superheating because of it; is reason enough for me to use only synthetic oil !!!

Re: synthetic oil?
I'm with these guys. I bought my truck last winter when it was cold out and it was running really rough. I read about stiction and suspected that on my truck. After changing to Rotella T6 5w40 and throwing a couple of bottles of Rev-X in it, it was a new truck after about a week! I will never go back!

Re: synthetic oil?
It shouldn't take long. Try 8oz of Rev-X if you have high mileage, you may be suprised by what happens. Be sure to post any changes you see with the T6.

Re: synthetic oil?
The biggest part of synthetic oil is its ability to keep up lubrication under more severe loads and temps. There are additives and formulas that exeed natural refined oil. I can't tell any difference in the way my truck runs exept for the injector noise is different.
I do know for a fact it will extend the life of my engine because of reduced friction and considering what these engines cost it is worth any additional cost to use it. Have a old Penzoil sign that says: (It's cheaper to change your oil than your engine) |
