Headlights shorting out stuff

I have a 96 and when I turn the headlights on it shorts out my drivers side rear blinker and the cruise control but if I turn them off they work just fine. I checked the fuses and they're all fine any ideas?

What happens when you turn on the parking lights?

Re: Headlights shorting out stuff

That wasn't the question. When you turn on JUST the parking lights, NOT the headlights, does that cause the turn signals and/or cruise to fail?

The first thing to check when you have wierd electrical problems are the grounds, and not just one or two of them but all of them. A bad ground will cause backfeeding problems through other lights and all kinds of wierd problems.

^^^^^^ +1; start with the grounds for the LF turn/park bulb socket, and the LR turn/park/stop bulb socket. Also check both those bulbs, as a burned-out filament in a two-filament bulb can cause stuff like this.
