A-pump on 7.3

Hello folks. Been working on a 7.3 project for a while now, just getting the basics going for right now, but a mechanical 7.3 is in the works. I have been studying injections pumps for some time now. I think the bosch pump sizes are this; M, MW, A, and then the mighty P. Maybe more IDK. I looked into a MW, its a no go because plunger size is limited to 10mm, not much of a aftermarket following. Up to the A, it would seem as if they are capable of 13mm plungers according CDS. Some pullers seem to make good poeer with the A. Obviously the P is very near the top of the heap as far as performance goes. Im just looking for some opinions (good or bad) on the use of the A pump as opposed to the P pump. FYI this will NOT be a 1000+HP build, lets hypothetically say a max HP of 700. Thoughts?? Thanks.

Why are you trying to p pump a 7.3? Its alot of money, is it gonna be a pulling truck?

Re: A-pump on 7.3

Discussion goes south already..... I expected this. In responce, im looking into an A, not a P series pump. Negative on a pulling truck. Thanks for the info.

Re: A-pump on 7.3

A lot of pullers run a pumps because its the class limit. A p pump is probably not going to be much more expensive. The a pump runs into reliability issues at higher levels where the p pump is a more robust pump and handles the higher levels better.

Re: A-pump on 7.3

700hp build and he wants to go mechanical... Hummm...

400-400 and a large single for a play truck...

400-400 and a set of twins for a daily driver.

Done.
