Boost gauge doesn't work

I just bought my PSD it has a boost gauge made by glowshift, It reads with a vacuum hose. It is ran and T'ed into a vacuum line that comes off the Y pipe. The guy i bought it from says that the line from the gauge is to big??? seems weird to me

Re: Boost gauge doesn't work

Look up Glow Shift on YouTube and there is a complete installation video on how to install the gauges. Don’t know what vacuum line you are talking about but definitely doesn’t sound right to me.

Sounds like the vaccum line off the y-pipe is the MAP line. If so that should be perfect spot. It's where I tied into on my 97.

I do not get why the line size matters. When you pressurize something it is equal pressure everywhere. Pressure doesn't decide to be at 15 psi on the map line and 50 psi in your intake pipes.

Re: Boost gauge doesn't work

My glow shift guage insatll talked about vacume also which I ofcourse wrong. But check tba you have no leakes in the line and that it is hooked up to the guage and is not punches anywhere. When I put my pillar back I accidently pinched my line and dident give me a reading.

Re: Boost gauge doesn't work

The MAP line is what you want. You arent trying to test it in the driveway are you? Go out and drive it. Other than that I also would check the line for pinches.

Re: Boost gauge doesn't work

I'll check the line tonight for pinches. And i am in the driveway, but i bought it 3 hours away from home and it didn't move the whole way.

Does the size of the line matter?

Re: Boost gauge doesn't work

Mine is 1/8" line. Dont look for it to move while you are just cruising, you have to have your foot in the pedal. At WOT a stock 7.3 will only hit about 18-20. What are you putting this on an OBS?

Agreed. Check at WOT for movement in the gauge. If that does'nt work run a new line straight from the MAP to the gauge, this will tell you if it's the gauges fault or a leak in the line.
