So, who has heard about the end of an era (the Powerstroke) and the beginning of another (the Scorpion)? The Powerstroke has been a great engine. Even though its reputation has been tarnished by the issues with the 6.0L, there isn't any denying the fact that it has proven itself. Now, rumor has it that there's a new motor coming out and it's no longer going to be produced by Navistar. I'm not sure who is going to make it but they are going to name it the "Scorpion". What in the world? Could there be a gayer name for a piece of equipment that exudes manliness? Why don't they just go ahead and name it the "Saber Tooth Tiger" or the "Fairy Princess"?
I don't know about ya'll but I'm disgusted. Yes, it's just a name...but think about what it will sound like when you're talking to others about your vehicle and you have to mention that you have a "Scorpion". Powerstroke is a name that sounds formidable and now they want to come out with something that makes me feel like I should be driving a Mitsubishi rice burner with a 12" spoiler and stick-on hood scoops. Hopefully this is all just a rumor and Ford isn't going to subject us to a name like "Scorpion".
Hey, I'm all for change but when it comes at the price of sounding like a pu$$y, I have to throw up the flags. Has anyone else heard of this? What are your thoughts? I found a couple of articles online and they seem to have supported these rumors.
Ford will be the ones making the next generation of diesel that is going to be used in there trucks since they cant get along with International anymore. It will be out in 2009 as a 6.7l V8 and no it will not be called "Scorpion" when it comes out... thats just a code name... just like Windows Vista was called "Long Horn" before it was released.
it is gay that IH and ford are splitting up now that they finally have have motor that you can get big power out of without spending your lifes savings:doh:
and what do you mean motor you can get power out of with out spending lifes savings? you have to be able to afford the truck to do it... And I like International and I like Ford... but i dont blame them for splitting up... look at all the trouble they have had with International not wanting to pay for warranty stuff on the 6.0 when they where having trouble and now with some stuff on the 6.4... so its not really the best business relationship

I keep hearing from a guy, who is close with a few big Ford Dealers, that the Cummins engine will be in the next generation of trucks........2010-2011. Anybody else hear that?

Actually according to my service manager that I worked with this last week getting what ended up being a leaking CPS fixed said that the reason there was so much problems with the 7.3L, 6.0L, and the 6.4L is because ford changed stuff after they got/get the motors. Like he said- how many International trucks are having these problems that are running the same motors.
thats what ive always thought. ford butts in too much and thats part of the reason why there are problems but reguardless id still build a 6.0 or 6.4 after my dream OBS 7.3.
I dunno about ford making a diesel. The Big three have been using diesel's made from diesel manufacturers for a reason, because they know what they are doing.
It seems Ford changes enough stuff on a Navistar to mess it up, hence why I come here, so I can fix it & make it run the way IH designed it too.
I'd rather have the IH waterpump on my 7.3, it has a filter.
I'm happy with my 7.3, so as long as I can keep the truck from rusting away, I'm not changing.

Me neither. The 6.0 was a screw up from the get go so I won't hold my breath. Unless I had to, I wouldn't drop my money on a new truck till I see how they perform in the long run.
People keep saying that but I never hear why. OK, they changed the water pump. What else did they do that messes it up so bad?
I'd have to look at that one. While it isn't the greatest, did it really do harm? I would think the CCV was worse since it can cause boots to blow off.
The fuel system was a cackle prone nightmare, allowing air to enter it shortened injector life & made much noise. Maybe not the dead head design per say.
I think the new Ford built one will be really easy to put twins on. The exhaust and intake port locations are swapped. The exhaust comes directly out of the motor into the turbo; almost no heat energy loss. I would think it would make piping twins pretty easy.
