Death Wobble

I am working on an 05 that has a very bad shake at 50mph. There is nothing visually worn out and there is little play in the joints. Has anyone had this problem? If not any pointers would be helpful.

Stock height?

Only when hitting bumps?

Re: Death Wobble

Yes stock height, stock wheels and tires. It does it all the the time, the longest I have seen it go is probably 2 miles and it does it again. You have to slow down to 25-30 and it will stop then start again.

Re: Death Wobble

Did the problem just start?
Anything been changed on the truck recently?
Has it been aligned recently?

Some of the newer trucks have the rearend sort of "hop" between 42-48mph.....go faster and it goes away, go slower and it goes away, only does it on certain roads though.

Re: Death Wobble

It has been doing this a while now . It is a company truck and was recently turned back in and the guy said, oh yeah it's got a vibration in the front. It has not been aligned to my knowledge. It has BFG ATs that have about 1/4" tread left, but they are serverly cupped because of the wobble. I watched the passenger front tire while it was doing it and the tires actually turn back and forth and don't hop up and down. Thanks for the continued help.

Re: Death Wobble

our 06 front end started to wobble with only 5K miles on it
the dealer fixed something with the steering under warranty, said there was a TSB or something about it.
will look up the paperwork tomorrow if i get time
