Are you 100% sure the leak isnt from uptop in the valley? Or to the cover to unbolt the gear to the hpop?

Just seen this after I pm'd you.

I had a front main leak in about 05'. If you replace the pan, you do have to pull the motor on a super duty, not sure about your set up.

However, a local machanic talked me into letting him try injecting rtv into the area of my leak. Not sure how he did it and he rebuilt the oil cooler in the process and it only seeped a bit after that but didn't drip for 6 years prior to my rebuild.

Pull harmonic ballancer pry seal out of front lpop and be carefull the lpop is aluminum and will crack.A new pump is 65.00 at advance auto parts, if you have to replace it. It is about a 1-2 hour job.

Kills did a whole swap in his garage lol...iirc he had to extend his garage but he did it.

Good time to swap to a melling or if your pockets are deep dieselsites new
I have a dream of if I have to go after something like that of doing a fluid damper, and melling ..but my wallet say right now oil is cheaper
Tg mine is not leaking

Re: 7.3 main seal an oil pan leak. how do i fix?

I FIRST find out what is leaking, the front main OR the pan,

If it is just the front main, do yourself a favor and buy the melling improved Lo-pressure oil pump and throw that on(new main seal is included). It takes about an hour to do. The HARDEST part is getting the puller in there to pull the harmonic balancer

Re: 7.3 main seal an oil pan leak. how do i fix?

no you dont need no special tools, except a harmonic ballancer puller. a melling oil pump is 79.99 at advance auto parts and the front seal is 9.95 good luck
