Besides keeping coolant out of the intake if (when) the EGR cooler blows, it will keep exhaust soot from being routed into the intake,=less wear in the cylinder bores, cleaner oil=less wear in the bearings, oilpumps and injectors.
Also throw a coolant filter and a new oil cooler on while your at it... There are a few more things to do just not sure of your budget
