6637 mod: what can it support?
Can a simple 6637 filter support 500rwhp, or is it not gonna be able to flow enough air?
I ask because I can get the filter locally for $23 but if it wont work for my end goals i'll go straight to an intake system that can |

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
I'll take a stab at it and say yes (depending on how you plumb it ... no PVC fittings!). The Donadson filter used in the Tymar setup can flow a lot of air. JMO though. Cheers!

There's not much more you can do to flow more air except...NO filter.....and you know the answer to that.....NO

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
Take a deep breath through a 6637. Feels like there is no restriction at all, like you were breathing normal... I had to try it when I got mine

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
Anyone know the specs of the 6637 filter?
I'm rather curious why its so much cheaper than the BHAF dodge guys use (napa 2790). Its half what the dodge filter is |

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
Actually here is a more important question.
How close does the 6637 come to touching the hood/other surrounding objects? Because the 2790 filter is 1/2" shorter, but 2" fatter, and according to fleetfilter flows 680cfm vs 400 for the 6637 Both have the same 4" outlet |

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
I like the looks and sound of the 2790. But I will have to go out and look, to see if it will fit in the same spot as a 6637.
That is a good increase in flow over the 6637 680 vs 425. That is a good increase.. On Edit: Here it is........Wix 42790 & Napa 2790 Air Filter: FleetFilter Secure Online Store And for comparision the 6637.............Wix 42790 & Napa 2790 Air Filter: FleetFilter Secure Online Store

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
I don't think the other one will fit where the 6637 would go. Even if the hood closes, the larger diameter will probably be against something and restrict the flow (and negate any flow advantages). Cheers!

Re: 6637 mod: what can it support?
I might just have to replace my 6637 soon than....I'm wanting to run a custom intake like the ATS Great White truck anyway.

I imagine if anything this would at least help with EGT's if you could fit it
