if your battery light is on, change your alternator

i almost got stranded last night in an area i wasn't very familiar with, at a crappy time of the mornin all because i was too stubborn to change the alternator out because it seemed to be ok. it seriously takes 10 minutes to change the alternator out and thats with hand tools. i know its a few dollars but its too easy to change it not to do it you're battery light is on. i was lucky and made it back to a safe place.

Re: if your battery light is on, change your alternator

did you have the old alt tested to be sure it was not working?
Our alts do fail, but often it is the two wire pigtail that trips the battery light on the dash. Test your batts and alt off and after running.

I just replaced the batteries on my truck. I had an internal short on one of them which from time to time(period of every other 2-4-8 days / just irregular) would cause the truck not to start. Why? Because itthought it was constantly being bump started and the idm wasn't receiving constant voltage and therefore would allow it to crank but not run.
