Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
Ive been running mobil delvac from walmart in my truck and always had above 500 psi at idle about 600-650psi hpop pressure. i just used delo for the first time because they were out of delvac. did the oil change yesterday and noticed now my oil presure sits at 400psi at idle.. does it mater?

I don't see how switching oil brands would make a difference in ICP at idle.

Re: Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
I do not like Delo...it has very little detergent in it and turns the inside of your engine black. have torn down many Cummins engines that had delo in them, (big rig engines) and thats what we found, black goo on everything. use Shell Rotella T, Union Guardol, or Mobile 1300 super...these all have a good detergent package, and the crap goes out with the oil change...... you can run that delo forra bit, couple thou miles, then get it outta there. just my opinion ....

Re: Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
yeah im sticking with delvac. i used to use rotella every change but after i switched to delvac i noticed truck idled smother and quieter, less blowby and was thinker at the end of a 4k mile run. now with delo truck idles rougher again, more blowby and now lower hpop pressure..

Re: Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
i have used delo since the fourth oil change in my truck! so for about 75,00 miles now.... had the valve covers off a time or two and looks great.... i've tried rotella, delvac, and motorcraft, and delo runs the smoothest in my truck, i change the oil in my truck every 5k in the summer and 3k in the winter cuz of idle times!!!!! i burn the least amount of oil with the delo too..... had amsoil in there too once but i burned way to much of it to keep running it, about a quart per 1k same with rotella syn..... so i guess its more like 60k with delo

Re: Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
I'm confused by the claim that DELO doesn't have enough detergent. I've got the OCI reports that show the additive package. Good detergent and great anti-wear additives...Can someone explain?
Best, Jim

Re: Truck idles 200psi (hpop) lower with delo vs delvac
