My 97 CCSB build
Well i figured i might as well start a build thread. I di not plan on getting to involved with this truck but I cant help myself
.It is a 97 CCSB 7.3 5spd 147k on the truck. I am the 4th owner. ![]() When i first got it, it needed rear spring hangers and shackles. I did those, got them from NAPA. While I had the bed off doing those i noticed the rear shock hangers are pretty bad, so i picked up a good used pair, i still need to put them on. Spring hangers and shackles - PowerStrokeNation I then had an issue with the e-brake not holding. So i tore into the rear brakes. I had a n axle seal leaking and worn down shoes. So it got new shoes, hardware and a axle seal. i also upgraded the rear diff cover to the 08 aluminum cover. Rear axle seal - PowerStrokeNation Cast Aluminum SD Rear Differential Cover on OBS - PowerStrokeNation Next up was to get the truck inspected. Well while getting inspected, it needed front brakes, axle u-joints and ball joints. So i said F the Dana 50 and picked up a 95 Dana 60. So far, the complete axle was tore down, sandblasted painted, new ball joints(XRF), axle u-joints(spicer), spindle bearings and seals, axle seals, pinion seal, made a new passenger side u-bolt plate, steering linkage(XRF), and Spicer's extra thick diff cover. Dana 60 passenger U-bolt plate - PowerStrokeNation Got another Dana 60 - PowerStrokeNation Next up is to get a SRW pair of front hubs, new rotors, and calipers and Install the D60 w my SKY RSK, SD "V" code springs and Bilstine 5100 seires shocks from Cary T(OBSWIZ). After i get that in the front, I will have to see what exactly I want to do with the rear of the truck. Today i thru a set of 285s on the truck, that i got off of one of my parts trucks. ![]() I will try to keep this thread updated as things get done. After the suspension is figured out, a clutch and exhaust will be done, then some body work.

Re: My 97 CCSB build
No caps on the Alcoas, esp. with the open steel lug nuts, just looks like they fell off. At least get some push-thru caps and capped nuts. But IMHO, the traditional caps look best.
Please assure us you're gonna preserve the silver-red-silver two-tone. Anyone who paints a monochrome over a two-tone should have their PSD taken away, be made to watch an entire season of "Dancing With the Stars", and be issued a CumminGs. With an automatic. |

Re: My 97 CCSB build
Looking good Brad....seems these ccsb trucks have a way of pulling people in....I was looking for a SD when I bought mine, and just happened on a good deal.....now its turned into a full on project truck and currently getting parts gathered up for a zf-6 swap.
Glad to hear your keeping the two tone, I've more than once thought about going two tone on my truck when I get around to painting it. Justin

Re: My 97 CCSB build
Very nice truck. I have a 96 ccsb 7.3 auto. In rough shape but only paid $4000 for it in 2008. Take some measurements of how much lift you gain with the rsk compared to stock.
