Re: Socialized medicine leads to euthanasia
I'd love to hear solutions for solving the problem of my aquaintance, Ron.
Everything I said is factual. He chose not to buy health insurance, and now he has huge medical bills that he will never pay. Which means that we pay them. What would you suggest realistically? What would you change about our current laws to ensure that he is responsible for his bill, with interest of course?

The doc is not unethical. He is like everyone else out there and he is charging the insurance negotiated rates per your insurance plan. I's imagine he'd prefer to charge everyone $5K, do the same amount of total procedures, and end up w/ the same amount of money at the end of the year. But that is not his choice as the uninsured don't pay and he and the facility that he works for has to absorb the cost of the uninsured as part of their total operating costs. It's not a small amount. What is unethical is the person that doesn't have health insurance and doesn't have the means to pay for any amount of medical care that they or their families might need at any time. That is who is unethical. |

Re: Socialized medicine leads to euthanasia
Garnish your acquaintances wages is the answer. Those who already are so poor that can't afford insurance can't afford mandatory insurance either.
