bigger front fuel tank options?

I have searched all the forums and couldn't find an answer, so here it is. I will be doing another Fummins build soon and I would like to do a 5" exhaust this time, I have read all the posts about this and it seems running the f26d or e tank is very difficult. I only want to have one tank so I don't have to screw around with the plumbing nightmare of the two tanks, so my question is, is there a front tank that is larger (like 30 gallons) available from some model obs or not?

Re: bigger front fuel tank options?

Well I dont think there ever was a factory one that was bigger then 19 gals for a front tank, but I bought a '90 CCLB DRW 4x4 with a PSD in it that has what I believe to be a SD tank in place of the origional front one. It holds about 35 gals from E and its a plastic tank. If it is aftermarket then I have no idea where you might find it...

You mean a 99+ superduty right, not an obs f450? Does it seem to fit tight?

Difficult in what way? I installed one (F26E) and it was not a huge deal at all? My spare even fits under there and I'm running a 4" exhaust in the stock location. I did have to trim the tank rock guard to accommodate the exhaust pipe and think 5" would fit albeit would be snug.

please explain what you feel would be difficult perhaps I can assist..

Re: bigger front fuel tank options?

thanks fordboy, that is very interesting, looks like it wasn't too bad at all. Jcart, I'll have to find the thread again, but I was just reading about how low the tank sits and that sneaking in a 5" was next to impossible without modifying it. if you've got a picture of yours, can you post it here for me. thanks

So my sig truck has this the F26 tank and it's 7" deeper than the stocker. Same dimensions as stock just lower. Spare fits no problem, mine is lifted a few 3 inches (guessing over stock) as well I have air bags on it so it does ride where I want it pending what I'm hauling. In terms of a 5" yes it would be snug and you'd probably have to modify it as I did with my 4" system. Not sure if I have pix of it and as my webshots account is changing I can't post pix with it.

Depending on what you will be doing with your truck, hauling, suspension upgrades 4X4 etc., you might be better off with a large midship tank. As mine is a CCSB midship would not be possible (air compressor and other mods) in the way. So what I've done is have a 50 gallon in box combo box/fuel cell, combined I have 405 litres or 105 US gallon capacity.

Re: bigger front fuel tank options?

Transferflow made tanks for the OBS, not sure if you can still get them. I have a 40ga front and a 45ga rear in my 95.
