low engine oil pressure

I took my truck to the dealer because it went into limp mode, had no CEL.

They replaced solenoids and valve body in the trans as well as all the fuel injectors. I was told they also reflashed the engine and trans. Now sometimes I will get a warning message on the dash that says "low engine oil pressure". The thing is, I only see this message when the engine is NOT RUNNING! Its annoying, I have never seen it until I got it back from the dealer. The dealer has no idea why it comes on.

anyone have ideas? just deal with it?

Re: low engine oil pressure

i have that occasionally also but no idea why it comes on. It seems to come up on mine after it ran for a while then i turn the key back on soon after shutting down. I wouldnt mind knowing why it does this too.

Re: low engine oil pressure

kowalski, out of curiosity do you see that message prior to starting up the truck (ie while glow plugs cycle), or after shutdown? Or both?

I believe it has only come on after the truck has been driven and is warm. The truck is then shutdown and the key turned back on. The message will appear right before the engine is started. My wife drives the truck everyday, I hardly ever get to use it I don't believe it has come back on in a while..

Re: low engine oil pressure

Mine did the same thing the other day! Turned it off, cycled key all the way back forward to hear radio (as I had opened door already) and BAM that light came on. So I started truck checked everything out and all seamed well. So, I did it all over again and light did it again! Tried a 3rd and 4th time but no dice, it was bout 75-80 degrees out and truck was at normal operational temp already. Truck is completely stock!

Re: low engine oil pressure

I don't know why it would do it randomly. The low oil pressure light (message) is a commonality to most vehicles because the ECU is powered by the accessory and when the ECU recognizes there is no oil pressure it will flag the light (or message in this instance). Once the vehicle is started and the oil pressure switch recognizes the pressure the signal is sent to the ECU to dispose of the light.

Are you sure itsw not there all the time and you're just noticing it?

sorry I haven't been on here in a while. Im 100% positive the light was random. 1st of all, it sticks out like a sore thumb very hard to miss a huge orange message on the center of the dash! 2nd of all, the first time it had EVER come on was just after we got it back from the dealer for extensive repairs.

no matter tho, it is now the problem of the dealer I traded the truck to.
I'm done with Ford, i'm done with pre 07' diesels and all the related emissions equip. I wish you all better luck than I had!

Re: low engine oil pressure

mine does it too.... yall wanna know why???? because with the key on all the sensors are working, but the oil pump isnt running with the engine now running, hence low oil pressure when the engine isnt running!! that warning coming up with the engine running would be time to start worrying...
