Oil where it shouldn't be
Parked my truck and noticed a drip of oil on the driveway. Lay down and it's coming from the intercooler coulping. I swear, this truck hates me. Anyone wanna guess how much longer it'll live? Should have got a dmax!!!!!!!!

Re: Oil where it shouldn't be
Which intercooler coupling? Oil in the intercooler is unfortunately normal due to the crank case venting into the intake prior to the intercooler. Oil however shouldn't be dripping, maybe just a light film right around where the clamps do up. Can you post a picture of where and how much? Maybe there is another issue going on.

Re: Oil where it shouldn't be
I'll snap a picture. I remember a drip, which lead me to look. I know it needs hg's but, with my luck I'll have to change the motor. Sorry to be negative but, that 10g bill terrifies me.

hopefully it's not a serious issue. Could be coolant as well. When I first got my truck I thought I had an oil leak and it turned out to be a coolant leak. Looked like oil because of the type of coolant.

Re: Oil where it shouldn't be
thats a lot of oil ,, and not the normal CCV boot seepage
any chance it's dripping on that clamp from another area?

Re: Oil where it shouldn't be
First of all....Hello everyone, this is my first post on this website, I just joined. However, I'm far from new to diesels. I'm on several other forums with the same name.
Well, I have to admit, my truck is doing the same thing. However, it is not dripping, it is just a light film. I don't like it either. My first thought was a blown turbo seal? However, I have no symptoms of a bad turbo seal. My guess is that since I'm pulling 44LBS of boost with my tunes, I'm sucking oil right out of the crank? I'm going to monitor it and see how it goes. For those of you who know more about this.....Is some oil film OK, or should it be bone dry? Also, I'm guessing it is time to do CCV mod. Thanks! Turbo Kidd (Karl) |
