Dude you can buy a complete used engine with a warranty for about $4500. You should get a second opinion on that "problem"!

Have you looked at it ? Are they telling you it can't be polished out. Is it pitts or is it damage from gasses blowing through from head gasket failure??

Re: 6.0 help asap please

Well I would go have a look for yourself and see exactly what they are talking about. Forget what maximum runout is for the deck, but if it's not a flat surface you will loose the head gasket in a short period. They should straight edge it for you and it's either flat or it's not, my guess would be you have some tracks from exhaust gases blowing through from head gasket failure and all you can do is deck the block for that.
I used to be a machinest and have seen it for myself.

But; look at it for yourself and make them prove their case, sometimes shops just want to sell as much as they can sell.

Re: 6.0 help asap please

Take a look at how far away any coolant passages are as well how far cylinder edge is. You can take some pics and post on the site and I will give you my thoughts.
After saying that a perfectly flat surface is always going to be ideal but if there is a good sealing area around a pit it should not raise any concern. Take a few high quality pics and post them.

0.002 is a very slight amount but again take a pic or two
