6637 air filter

Does anybody know if caterpillar alternate filter better then the napa light dust 6637 filter. I'd rather spend a few bucks more for the security and peace of mind. A ford diesel mechanic told me here the dust is to fine for most dry filters and said that ford's ais filter is the only one he would use.

Re: 6637 air filter

Ais is probably the best filtering but 6637 does fine. Donaldson b085011 is the same as a 6637

I trust my $100k generator to Donaldson so I wouldn't hesitate to put one on my truck!

Re: 6637 air filter

Get the AFE big boost I started out with a 6637 but switched to the afe it flows 400 cfm more than the 6637 its washable and the same size as the 6637 but has a cone in the end for more filter area. I know I sound like a sales man but its a good filter

Re: 6637 air filter

The mechanic that got to wondering about filters said explicitly to stay away from the reusable filters. I was wanting to order afe stage 2 and he said to only issue with fords is the box. The air here is so silty and filled with a fine layer of dust that they are no bueno here. Maybe Seattle. He recommends the Ford AIS. But since talking to him I have to do injector cups and injectors. So I'm just trying to find a less expensive way to get air in and out for now that will help me with stage 1 injectors and a mild setting chip to run those injectors. Hoping that these conversion will be the ticket. Thats why I started the post on wanting a 6637 filter that will stop super fine crap in the air.
