Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

I use a V-10 cooler in my 97 and it fits between the banks intercooler and in front of the A/C unit. The brackets fit like it was made for the OBS. I'm going to a 6.0 cooler next and have to check what it takes to use the larger lines. Be aware there are two different sizes of factory 6.0 coolers and fitment may be different between the two. I guess you could call BTS and check apps.

i just purchased a used 6.0 cooler. do you know if i could squeeze a flex-a-lite fan on that cooler without any clearance issues? AND.... are there benefits to it?? i.e. ive noticed higher temps with stop and go traffic so the thinking is this could remedy that. the fan is 16x12x4 1/2 and rated at 2800 cfm

Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

Run the trans cooler after the built in trans cooler in the radiator and you shouldn't have any probems with temps. If you bypass the radiator trans cooler you will get higher trans temps when sitting in traffic with no air flow.

Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

Good catch on xenonx.

On topic I have the 6oh cooler and can't break 175deg pulling my car hauler loaded.

I pulled it just the other day in 103deg and did not even hit 175.

Can't lose with the 6oh cooler IMO.

Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

Just as a suggestion...I've gone with a no-brand version of the 6.0 from rockauto.com and it has been working real well with my BTS. It was a lot cheaper than the OEM Ford one I had before my factory transmission went south. Seems to be identical from what I can tell to the Ford version.

Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

when purchasing the v-10 cooler, you can run that WITH the stock cooler, if you want to.

same goes with the tru cool, or any of them for that matter.

out of one, into the next, out of that, into the trans.

if using the 6.0 cooler, that will be all the cooling needed.

as for the two different sizes of 6.0 coolers. the mounting brackets are the same. the only difference is the additional 4 rows of cooler. one is a 28 row, the other is a 32 row. other than that, they are the same.

Re: Tranny cooler questions!!!

You have a 7 row cooler and the 6.0 is either 26row or 31row depending on which one you get so at a minimum your upping the cooling power about 400%. Hard to beat that. It bolts right in also. You only have to mofify the connections for a bigger hose to the 6.0 cooler.
