multiple oil leaks...

i am leaking a serious amount of oil from a few different spots. its leaking so bad that from driving down the road there is oil flying back and spraying my rear axle and exhaust. one is the dipstick flange. leaking pretty heavy.. i tried to jb weld it a bit.. no luck. was wondering if i could weld it at all? or braze or solder?

the next is i think turbo pedestal o rings? but im not for sure, i havent taken anything apart to look more closely at the pedestal. but there is oil coming down my down pipe... its gotten so bad that it actually drips off my down pipe once it gets to the bottom. i was going to replace the orings.. but then people said i should get up pipes first.. which makes sense

and another is i think the drivers side hpop hose fitting that goes into the head. i ordered the o rings. but idk, do those o rings go into the head or do i pull the quick connect lines apart and the o ring is in there? im not sure if its leaking in the part that goes into the head, or if its the actual quick connection part.. idk i just need some input lol. i need some help with this stuff. thanks.

Re: multiple oil leaks...

The dipstick "repair kit" from IH is roughly $50 if I remember correctly. I did one in my brother-n-laws tow truck about 6-7 months ago. It took about 1.5 hours with removing/reinstalling the starter to make more room...and all the questions from him and his co-workers.

HPOP lines aren't bad. Remove the lines and pull the fittings. Also, take a look at your HPOP itself, the rear seal(facing turbo) on mine was leaking BADLY, a boneyard pump took care of 75% of my oil leak issues.

Re: multiple oil leaks...

or take a wrag and compltely clean out intake valley then let ruck run and sit up there and watch with drop light. you could also get some oil dye and check that way if its towards the back by the trubo i would guess the pedestal o rings
if its at drivers side head in the icp dry? that also has an o ring

Re: multiple oil leaks...

oil pan is covered.. never gonna rust at least! lol

up pipes leakin too.. nice. it looks like the oil is spraying onto the collector on the passenger side and leaking down the downpipe.

my failed attempt at jb welding the dipstick flange.

i guess this picture kinda sucks with all the wires in the way... tried to show the hpo line.

tried to get the pedestal as good as i could... just hard without taking anthing apart.

oil comin down the downpipe..

out of curiosity, what is that line coming out of the transmission there?

Re: multiple oil leaks...

you need to clean all surfaces that are covered if the dip stick seal leaks remove and fix jb weld works for some stuff but wont really help with oil leak rtv sealant would be bettwer since that is what the factory uses, also if there is a leak by the intake valley then it will drain down the back which will make the pass side wet like where the starter and pan sit
the icp o ring is seperate if it was already replaced then its prob ok but just look and make sure its dry
also the o rings kit would be right 4 o rings to a hpop pump and 2 for each line where they hook to head if these are dry i wouldn't replace them
also check where ipr sits to make sure its dry that also has o rings which could leak
there are also two like plug bolts at the back of the head which have o rings that could leak, if your gonna replace the pedestal o rings i would check those while you have it off

best bet is to clean everything get sme brake clean and a bunch of rags or paper towels and get it all dry then start truck and let it run use a drop light and check while truck is leaking if the intake valley becomes wet from farther back most likey pedestal in leaking

Re: multiple oil leaks...

I've had very good luck cleaning out the valley oil ponds with regular garden hose water. Oil floats and just washes out.
