Hey everyone, my dad has a 7.3 powerstroke in his farm truck, its a early 99 but the motor has been switched out and has a 2002 7.3 in it. The EBPV keeps activating even tho it is warm out and while driving now so we just unplugged it, would it be that the solenoid is bad, dad said he had the solenoid replaced but it still didn't fix the problem, what sensor is involved to tell the EBPV that its warm enough so it won't activate? temp sensor? I know if there is enough back pressure or you put it in drive the EBPV should stay open
Thanks |

Re: EBPV question
The ebp tube is prolly clogged, most of us just either unplug it or delete it.

Re: EBPV question
If it's working with it unplugged, just leave it unplugged. I have ran mine deleted for a while now, no ill effects.

Re: EBPV question
You can try cleaning the EBV sensor, but it probably won't help. Otherwise chances are the solenoid in the pedestal is bad...and they aren't cheap.
It's not entirely warm in Maine in the winter, either. When it's really cold (below 0*F) I just let it idle for 5 min or so, then drive it slowly and keep the rpms below 2,000 until the oil is up to temp. With synthetic oil and good batteries/GPs, I have had cold starts as low as -25*F and no issues. JMHO. |
