Hey was wondering if anyone was running one on their 7.3L? How hard is the install and is their any performance gain other then stopping turbo surge? Thanks Hunter
I have the USA housing and the install was very easy, just dont lose that c clip where the wastegate rod connects to exhaust housing. no other performance gains, whistle is a little more prominent but thats about the only difference besides stopping the surge.
the first generation wheels actually lost some boost when used with the ats housing.
have not herd the combo of the two with the newer wheels but imagine you would have less surge but less peak boost. no one has really commented on that.
my e99 has the original wheel so I have never seen surge on my truck..now if you get larger injectors I have heard an e99 will surge. not sure if that is the same for a 99.5+ superduty as I have not seen anyone says my truck still surges with the new wheel.
if you want to leave it on. move the down pipe, use a screw driver wrapped in a shop rag or something to hold the fins while you loosen the comp wheel.
safest bet is to just pull the turbo, but i have done it both ways.
it saves two orings...lol
unfortunately mine has to come out and prob the up pipes...
too bad they don't have a bellow kit for e99 at a reasonable price.
not only is it over double but they only give you a left and right .
Haven't hit 40 times yet but at least 10 times. Keep q spare set of rungs in the parts drawer just in case I find a nasty one.
