I have to trucks a 84 6.9 with a np 4 speed and a 89 7.3 with an c6 auto. the 7.3 is hydrolocked is there any reason why the 6.9 would not work using the 7.3s flexplate not work in this swap, or anything else? I cannot see any differecness but im just trying to cover all bases befor the swap

:whs: If the engine has to come out anyways why not just fix it & throw it back in? Unless funds & time are in short supply & the 7.3L has alot of miles & needs other things too. What happened....cavation or head gasket?
Back to your question as far as I know there shouldn't be much reason why the trannys wouldn't interchange between the two engines. Outside they are about the same engine.

water in oil not sure probably a head gasket though, yeah i wish it was that simpl as pulling the glowplugs. the 6.9 truck we have had for 10 years start adn runs like a dream but its and old electrical truck and has a utilitybox and the cab could rattle off anyday. the 7.3 truck we bought for 150 bucks with rebuilt tranny with 5000 miles on it and a motor that wont turn over. so its a low buck switcheroo

For that price I'd probley do the same thing.
Then you can either sell the 7.3L as a non running engine or throw it in the corner for a winter project to try & fix it.

yeah it is a straight forward swap....I swapped a 7.3 turbo into a 85 with a bad 6.9...
I had to put the 6.9 glow plugs and harness on the 7.3 and I had to use the 6.9 motor mounts.

but your soing the opposite swap so....

if it hydrolocked while it was running it probably bent the rods anyways
