dragonboi 03-05-2011, 03:38 AM hey guys just got me a 1995 ford f-250 eclb blue on top and bottom with white in the middle 294k
351 with auto 30k on them and the auto has a shift kit in it
i was wondering if there are any problems with these trucks i should know about
also i would like to get the truck repainted soon and i was wondering how much it would cost
andrewmp6 03-05-2011, 07:02 AM Only problems i know are the bed sides rust out above the rear wheels. The dual tanks have a in tank pump in each so one goes out you use the other only.If its 2wd the i beams can be fun to hold a alignment. But they are good trucks run forever you still see a ton of them on the road.
dragonboi 03-05-2011, 01:02 PM thanks for the great info
bcangelo 03-06-2011, 12:08 AM Had a 93, liked the truck, hated mpg, thus it brought on a 93 idi
dragonboi 03-07-2011, 11:38 AM i love the truck and i know it will serve me well for many years to come, but i have decided my next truck will be diesel
diesel_brad 03-10-2011, 12:09 AM Trans are garbage in stock format, rust above the wheel wells, supercab corners, rad support, spring hangers and shackles. Door hinge bushings
dragonboi 03-10-2011, 01:13 AM thank y'all for all the good info. keep it coming

We're used to seeing them like that cause we are in PA LOL
Mac347 03-16-2011, 09:10 AM I drive a 97 f250 obs with the 351w with 35k on the motor/trans and she will haul ass except you can watch the gas gauge move.:evil mine has a flow master on it.i havent hauled anything with it yet but thats gonna change come race time;)my truck has zero rust on it except for on the hood where the paint chipped.
dragonboi 05-08-2011, 02:50 AM so i have had the truck for a few months now and i love it.
I was wondering what is a good muffler to install
also how much a good bedliner would cost for my longbed

JMHO, NO muffler sounds best
As for a Rhino, Line-x, and so on you are looking at about 500
Red 93 L1 #3383 05-08-2011, 10:32 PM A good paint job at a good body shop where they do all the work will run well over $5k. Now if you remove the glass, emblems, lights, trim... & if you can scuff the paint, fix dents... you will save a couple thousand or more. Your best bet would be to discuss the work with the shop. Find out what you can do to save some money & what things they need to do in-house so that they will give you a good guarentee against peeling / flaking paint... Also if you plan to change colors you may want to pull the engine & strip the entire front end & pull the interior out. Around here you are looking at $600+ for a spray in liner.
dragonboi 05-15-2011, 12:32 PM thank you for the input, about 500 was what i was thinking it would cost
dragonboi 06-07-2011, 10:02 PM are there any good places to get aftermarket bumpers front and rear
also i was wondering where is a good place to get the some basic performance information on these engines and where i could get some of the performance parts
genuineford 06-08-2011, 12:21 AM Summit Racing – High Performance Car and Truck Parts l Edelbrock, ACCEL, Moroso, K More!
(http://www.summitracing.com) is a good place to look for parts. Usually you can figure a lot out just by looking at what is available for it.
dragonboi 06-24-2011, 03:22 AM any more places to get some good info on getting perfomance information on these 5.8 gas engines
Red 93 L1 #3383 07-01-2011, 05:25 PM http://www.nloc.net or LightningRodder.com (http://www.lightningrodder.com) Either place look in the Gen 1 section, many fast Lightnings in there. Most of them are 351W based engines but, there are a few 460 based engines.
cozzb 07-07-2011, 05:48 PM I have a similar truck engine and all.
I went with 1.6 roller rockers, ford racing stainless headers, edelbrock 5.8 truck intake, 4.11 gears with 305-70-16 tires.. Bassani Lightning stainless Y-pipe with converters, flow master muffler and tailpipes, ford racing smog pump eliminator pulley, stock air box and filter, new plugs, 8.8 wires, cap, rotor, and timing bump. Very respectable performance and a major increase.
I will be installing aluminum GT-40 heads over the summer or winter most likely unless I can find a set of good condition cast iron GT-40 heads..

wow man thats alot im just looking to get alittle bit better milage out of my truck
I plan on doing a K&N drop in and a flowmaster super 40 muffler to start
oh and a new front bench, bumpers front and rear, new radio and on and on
dragonboi 07-28-2011, 02:57 AM well just put my drop in K&N filter in my truck and it only took me about 5 minutes
Also installed a new cycle sentry switch on the dryeer so i have ac finally. Man it has been hot here in san antonio
Also picked up my new radio and i am going to install it this weekend.
Three things i have wanted down and one to go for now, a Flowmaster super 40
Al Mighty 07-28-2011, 03:20 AM I'd go with magnaflow before flowmaster. I can't standthe hollow tinny sound of the flowmasters. I wont even run flowmasterson my mustangs. It's bassani, borla, or magnaflow there.
dragonboi 07-28-2011, 04:10 PM ok thank you for the input
i already know from my wife that i have to wait to get an exhaust done so that will give me some time to research mufflers
