orrwhat 02-24-2011, 02:12 AM Hey guys. Im wanting to put a oil by pass together but cant shell out 350+ for one. I can get the filter cap from ebay but what else would I need? I dont know what kind of filter base or filter to get. Hope this make some sense.
motoxracer42 02-24-2011, 04:05 AM you can get pretty much everything from ford. e350 van has a remote oil filter. i got the base from ford and the cap and some lines from elite. i had to make my own mount on the frame rail though. i threw away the paper with the part numbers though lol. i wish i could help more
pizza pig 02-24-2011, 05:02 AM you can easily make one yourself that will filter down to 10 microns (3-5 microns nominal)
These are what im using, but im still putting together my kit
John Deere RE21748 (Oil Filter)
Baldwin OB1305 (Filter base)
You can also use the Baldwin B164 filter which is only like $8 instead of the deere filter
You then need fittings and lines obviously and a bracket to where ever you choose to mount it. Also make sure you modify the filter base with a plug drilled out to slow the flow down (that deere filter and baldwin base are both full flow so it needs to be restricted to be effective)
You can easily do this for around $100... I have invested so far
$55 for the billet oil cap
$20 filter
$25 filter base
Im going to make my own lines and the res of the fittings should only run me another 20 bucks or so.
cheap, yet very effective.
smokersteve 02-24-2011, 02:59 PM For the amsoil filter. I found the NUC filter mount on ebay for $20 and got the cap from nuc from nuc for 60 or so. Parts and hoses from me or the stores near me. Total was 120-130
where have you all mounted your oil filters? My only engine space is taked up by the coolant filter. Anybody mount one on the frame?
lenzhotrod 02-24-2011, 04:23 PM I made my own. Tee'd fittings into the Oil pressure sending unit, ran hose down below driver side fender well (about where your feet are at in the drivers seat),thru a racor byass filter(claim 1 micron), and back up to the unused oil cap on the driver side valve cover. Stealth,Cheap(except for Racor filter) and works great. Make sure your bypass has some kind of restriction built in!!!

I ended up making custom mounts for both the bypass coolant and oil filters to get them in the engine bay.
It's a tight because of the Banks intercooler 3.5" hot side pipe.
nick0360 02-25-2011, 11:57 AM how about completly removing the oil filter housing with the e350 stuff work i want it completly off the top of motor plus i dont use my upper fuel filter with the airdog so i wanna remove the whole unit

looks nice
lenzhotrod 02-25-2011, 01:38 PM Your oil filter and a bypass oil filter are 2 different things. One flows about 20 gallons per minute and one flows about 1 quart per minute.

If only Trusted Performance had realized that.
DO NOT USE A MORE RESTRICTIVE FILTER FOR YOUR MAIN FILTER.
Using it as a bypass is fine, but YOU WILL eat a bearing if you try using too low a micron filter as your only filter.

No I am not. The only thing that I have that was the original is the oil lines. Everything else has been changed.

I have the complete Banks intercooler kit on my truck, the Banks 3.5" pipe works with the stock airfilter assembly.
I used a CFM+ intake elbow instead of the Banks high ram elbow.
