Drove an '11 F150 Crew Cab with the Ecoboost today. If these motors last, Ford has hit a home run. Smooth running quiet, great ride, and I have permagrin. When those two turbo's light it puts you back in your seat. I would love to have one but the 39k price tag kept me from it. So they are on the lots now. Nice, nice trucks.

I went to a Ford event out to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana a couple of months ago and drove one around a bit towing a 8000# trailer and it was really impressive for only 3.5 liters....if I was in the market for a half ton gasser I'd definitely consider it.

They made me a pretty good offer on my truck too haha.

With all that ford has going on right now they could get about 5500 off the sticker, so I'm pretty impressed for 35k.

Do it. I would get one if I was in the market for a new truck.

I wasn't in the market until I drove this one Steve.

The real thing will be to see what the aftemarket puts out for them. You can only do so much to a NA engine and we all know what a compressor or two in the mix can lead to. Exhauset, intake, and tuning will get you lots further....

the direct injection is going to limit how much it can really be tuned

we spend 2 or 3 grand for injectors to put in trucks that ride like logs.............if they make them somebody will buy them!!

Yeah but I can not buy another truck. Not one that costs that much anyway right now.

You and me both, no way I could justify spending that on a truck.

I wonder what kind of MPG that thing gets when towning 8k. Im guessing not very good.Still would be a fun truck.

I would be curious to see how it did towing also. The sticker said 15 town 25 Hwy. The powerband is in the low rpm range, the salesman told me where it hits peak, i forget though, i think he also said 365hp? sound right? It was impressive on power, I'd like to hook something to one.

I am like you. I have driven one and think it's a great truck. But stepping back to a half ton gasser? The other problem is there still isn't any 4x4's from what I can find.

Great truck though. Ford has done the best marketing with those torture test videos too.

Oh yeah and I spoke with the Nutty Professor and he already is getting tuning ready for that motor, so there'll be some good stuff coming soon.

The one I drove was 4x4, it was the only one they had though.

The new half tons have a better towing capacity than my obs witha 460 does. Just food for thought.

drove one yesterday, I was quite impressed I must say, thinking of switching over to the half ton. I rarely pull anymore and the way gas is going up. the crewcab 4x4 said 16 and 22 on mpg

chodifer: why is the DI going to limit how much it can really be tuned?

Because with DI you have a smaller window of time to get the necessary amount of fuel in. However it wont limit it too much, you will just need higher flowing injectors to balance out the shorter pulse width. Kindof similar to our diesels. If your PW is maxed out and your need more fuel, what do you do? Bigger injector with bigger nozzles...

If they were a bit more affordable, I'd be all over it! But for a 20-25K difference in price from what I'd get for my truck, I can buy alot of fuel.

They are impressive to say the least though.

If the company provided a vehicle allowance (instead of the free minivan), I'd kick in a few bucks, sell the old stroker and be in one of those in a heartbeat... the new F150 does every bit of the work I'd let the 94 do and would have no trouble dealing with the car trailer.
