EGT's with 190's?

I am running a 64/71/70 with Casserly's 190's. Banks intercooler, AFE stage2 intake. When I am at WOT the EGT's climb pretty rapidly. At least I am thinking they do. From dead stop to around a 1/8 of a mile, maybe a little better than an 1/8th. The EGT's will climb to 1600, 1700, then i get out of it. I am just wondering what kind of EGT's you guys that have or had similar set ups are seeing. While I am just cruzing around they are about 700/800.

I see right at 1700 a little past the 1/8 mile on the track. I have a powermax and 225s. Whose 64 are u running?

Forgot to add. I see 850ish cruising at 75mph and 1050ish going up hills with the cruise control set. If you still think urs is too hot just have your tuner pull some fuel back on them.

bout the same for me. 850-900 on the highway and my 1500 pyro gets pegged pretty easily

Wow, I guess that is pretty normal then. What is the max ya'll will let your egt's climb. I have seen 1700, but it looks as if it is not stopping there. I am just wondering how a person would run a 1/4 mile like this. Thanks for the replies.

not sure what my max is...i'm pegged at 1500. pretty safe bet that it's somewhere between 1500 and 2 million degrees.

when are you hitting your max? is it when you lug it down or only at wot.

Only at wot. No problems under normal driving conditions. I am just wondering how a person can make it through a 1/4 mile without having a total melt down lol. Not sure what kind of temps these things will take either.

lol you dont have to worry about it on the track. its not really long enough to melt anything. i wish i would have changed my 64 to a 71 turbine wheel. i have the 65 because it was a 62/70 originally.

I was thinking that on the egt's but wasn't certain. When I installed the injectors on here, I must have messed up a couple of o-rings. Took forever to figure out what the problem was. Finally got it back together just in time for the transmission to take a sh!t. Great!!!! Thanks for the info guys

haha ya that happens. those big tires and that extra power seems to take its toll. truck looks good though

Thanks, and yeah they do take a toll on eveything. I just gave that truck to my son and bought a 08 f250 2wd supercab. No more big tires lol. Time to see hwat that 6.4ltr will do...

Not yet, will probably be about a month and a half. I am setting a 2wd 08 supercab up right now. I want to get both ready then go to the track.

Ok cool I'm just trying to figure out what everyone is running with 190's.. But have you towed anything yet ?

My EGT's were right around 750-800 crusing at 65-70mph unloaded with my 190's and 62/70 turbo. Loved the set up, but could easily peg my 1600* pyro on a 4x4 launch.

how are they towing with that combo

AllanB
01-20-2011, 06:02 PM
I just got this truck going so I haven't done any towing. Looks like I am not going to untill I get a trans either. But just from what I have seen driving and mashing the pedal down. I wouldn't think this is the ideal set up for towing. But then tuning plays a big part in that.

Once you get past the 1/8 th the temps will actually start coming back down a bit. The intercooler needs air across it to cool the intake charge. Still gonna be hot, but stop looking at it. Lol. If you want to be scared come ride in the ranger and watch the 2000 degree get gauge bury.

I have casserly 190's with a 64/71/70 non wastegated turbo with a spearco intercooler, CFM+ large mouth intake elbow and my temps while cruising down the highway in the summer with Innovative's race tune at roughly 60mph are 650-700 degrees. If i get on it hard it might hit 1300 in about 1/8th mile.

Thanks for the comments and advice guys. Might take you up on that ride in the ranger one day lol

lol i dont even have a pyro in my race truck lol. all i have is boost and drive pressure haha. do you have two seats in that thing

have you checked drive pressure at wot. i would like to see what it looks like with a .70 non gated housing.

No i haven't, but trusted told me that they tested this turbo and the pressure ratio is nearly 1:1

the reason i went with a non wastegated turbo is cause i'm never gonna spray it and was told that if that was the case then a nonwastegated turbo would be better.

How well does it spool? Also, are you seeing those temps with the water or without?

strokin6L

It spools really nice...hardly any lag at all. And innovative's moderate tuned FICM really helps with the throttle response. Those temps are without water.

how does the elite 225's work with the powermax...smokey?

Now bad unless you have the loud pedal down LOL so far its workin pretty good, my temps are a little higher than yours but I'm looking to go the non vgt route soon and wanted to weigh out all known options.

how does the FICM tune help in throttle response?

how does the FICM tune help in throttle response?

it helps fill the injectors with more fuel before it gets pushed into the cylinder. Made a HUGE difference.

Is that it?
I would have expected more than just that.

Same turbo I am running. So far I have been satisfied myself. Especailly with the spool time.
