Broke belt

Today while driving I heard an odd noise under hood, also lost power steering and brake, at the time the belt was intact, but later belt shredded. the truck was still running but the belt was not turning. 1997 f350 PS

Check the belt tensioner. It may have seized up.

Could be anything driven off the belt; tensioner, idler, p/s pump, vac pump, A/C compressor, alternator, water pump....

check all pullys very well. i went out got a new belt then i was feeling the pullys and the bearings in pullys were litterally gone.

Never knew that can you tell if it is going out? or just it just happen whenever it feels like it?

Usually if you look at the belt it starts to fray on one side...you could hear some squeaking / abnormal noise too ...also the belt will ride up on one side

BEARING # IS 6203 FOR YOUR IDLERS

same thing happened to me 3 times, all the vacuum pump but only had the belt go the last time cause the shaft for the pulley bent inside the vacuum pump
