The Sponsor section is NOT a place to ask "who can give me the best deal on ???", "does anyone want to test something on my truck", "who makes the best???", etc...

The sponsor section is where you can ask a sponsor about a product, sponsors can make announcements, members can thank sponsors or tell of their experience with sponsors, etc...

Leave "bidding wars", "freebies please", etc... out of here.

Thanx. :D

p.s. - I'm gonna lock a few threads rather than delete them, that are examples of what we don't want so members can review them.

what about the certain vendors selling parts in every thread???

That's fine as long as they are sponsors and it's related to the thread.

I agree. Actual discussion of price / sale by a member to a sponsor should be taken to PMs.

So if we are looking at making a large purchase of multiple products we should send a PM to each and every sponsor to get a package price on the purchase?

I am only asking to clarify because I will very soon be looking at quite a number of items and don't want to break any rules.

PS you might want to change the subtitle for the section:

This is the sponsor forum. Sponsors annouce new products here, users ask for product advice, quotes, etc. All sponsor related discussion here.

A good suggestion might be for a member to ask questions/prices and only have sponsors respond meaning all other members need not reply with opinions.

Yes. You can actually send a message to multiple vendors at once.

Also, if you're not sure who sells the type of package you're looking for, you can post in the upgrades and aftermarket section "who sells a good package like this" or something along those lines. People CAN post opinions there.

I agree about the "only sponsors responses are necessary" also in this section.

We're still discussing some of the aspects so feel free to post more suggestions for this section on this thread.

My humble opinion is that this is a place for sponsors to gain business. Users should be able to post a list of items or singular items that they are looking to purchase. Then sponsors can send a PM or post other information as appropriate (pricing, phone number, etc). Other users should not post opinions and such in these type of posts, strictly sponsors.

If a user is looking for subjective information (which injector is best, who builds the best engine, etc.) that should be posted in the correct forum below. Not in the sponsor forum.

If you say that any pricing questions must be conducted through the PM system that will make it harder for users to gain access to the sponsors of the site. I think the site should make it as easy for sponsors to sell to users and users to purchase from sponsors as possible.

I will follow whatever I am told, just my thoughts.

Personally, I think the sponsors section should be for sponsors to advertise new products, sales, etc. If a member needs a product, it is best to contact the sponsor(s) directly and ask about it.

I can't speak for any other sponsors, but as a sponsor that is also a member of other sites as well, PMs are the lowest form of communication in my totem pole. Because of my situation, email will probably always be the most effective way to reach me, with the phone being second. In both cases, the communiction comes DIRECTLY TO ME (either my inbox or a flashing light on my phone). In the case of PMs, I have to log in to a particular site to get them, and if things are busy and I don't happen to log in to that particular site, the PM goes unread.

In addition, direct email allows me (and others I'm sure) to keep better track of the communication, and is much easier to refer back to. My sent mail goes back to 2005 and has almost 17000 messages in it. I could never keep track of or be able to easily search that kind of information in PMs.

I find that PMs are great for very quick questions that are not urgent in nature. If the discussion will be more in depth, use email or the phone.

I will be the first to admit, I love getting PM's. I have always been a firm believer that if someone sat down and took the time to type me a letter or ask a question then they deserve the same from me. Finding the time gets less and less though. Especially when you advertise on 6 differnet forums. I am not opposed to members asking for advice on what they need, but none better then your peers to give you that. That's what the forums should be for. Other members have done it once, some twice. Their knowlege of product is from first hand experiences. So who better to ask then them. Our customers know our product very well and that is why I don't feek like I need to post against threads about our products all the time. If it is a direct question then yes I do.

With that said, I would bet that there are far more companies on this forum with less then 2 employess than any other forum out there. I personally would rather be called or emailed about the product I sell primarily because situations can arise that are out of our control and we may not be able to log on and get PM's or post to a request for several days. For example, I made a commiment to my sister-in-law to take her to her doctors office for a precedure she was having. My drive was 1 hour, 1 way. I was gone all day leaving Jody here to do everything. My job and his. I didn't get to respond to all my PM's on Wednesday or Thursday. One of them was about an order. I was only able to respond to it today because I had a moment before we went out tuning.

Please try every avenue we have available first to contact us before PMing us for orders.

Thanks,

Diane

I wouldn't know how this would work, but somehow put in a thread that only sponsers can see, but regular members can participate in..Meaning a memeber clicks on the thread and asks, hey where do I get that fuel injector kit from what price etc, then the sponsors can get on see the thread and respond to it..The only ones available to see that thread are the original poster and any vendor participating....Does this make any sense?

THanks...

This is what I prefer. Quick pm's are fine. In depth discussion, through direct contact please.

Thanks.
