96 cavalier I need help

I have got a 96 cavalier and I need help with it if I cycle the key a few times it will fire up for a few seconds and then die. I want to get this thing figured out because it only has 106000 miles on it. I put a new fuel pump in it and got the same thing happens and there is no port to check the fuel pressure on it and yes there is gas in it any help would be greatly appreciated because I wold hate to scrap it out. I hope to get it hooked to a scan tool tomorrow so hopfuly that will tell me something and thanks

Could be plugs, PCV, fuel filter or need to check the black box.

what is the black box? the fuel filter is new as well as the plugs and wires. thanks

When it dies, does it act like you turn the key off? Starve for fuel? Loads up? Does the Security light come on? If the security system is acting up it will do what you say it does.

it acts like you just turn the key off and the theft light starts to blink if it is the theft system how do I go about fixing it

got it figured out it was the pass lock system I had to reset it and the car started up and ran good for a car that has been sitting for 2 years so I took it for a test drive and blew a brake line LOL all well at least it started and ran :D
