Hey guys I'm looking for a good sharpener for my hunting knives as all I have is a wetstone at the moment. I am looking for a diamond sharpener or something real easy and quick to use that will get them really sharp but don't want to spend too much. What are you guys usin?

Nothing works as well as a good Arkansas whetstone, takes a little time. I also use a steel to keep them dressed up, really quick. All of my knifes are like a razor, even my hatchets and axes are sharp.

:whs:

I couldn't find an Arkansas stone around here so I resorted to a Spiderco med and fine ceramics. $45 and my bowie knife works great for shaving my face.

I have a lansky sharpener. You can get them in different configurations including diamond. I have one and it will get the knife razor sharp.

In a pinch, you can use the bottom of a ceramic coffee cup. Look for an unglazed edge.

I need one of those, tired of using a really fine rat tail file and a small diameter stick on each seration.

I use a norton whetstone then i hit the edge with a steel. does an amazing job. im glad to see people who care about their knives. most of the time i get ridiculed for having a nice knife that i take care of.

I have never been able to put an edge on knife like I can with this Spyderco (http://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=77) sharpener. It works great.

IIRC I paid about $125 for mine. That might not be cheap but if you figure all the other knife sharpeners I bought before this one I spent a lot more than that. This one is well worth it to me because I've never got the hang of sharpening on a stone. I'd love to learn with a stone and steel and ceramic. Your knife can never be too sharp and it will never stay sharp long enough.

Looks like a nice machine that will make a nice edge. Just let your muscles remember that angle. That's the secret, muscle memory.

Those trianglular rods look exactly like my Lansky sharpener.
