Doakster 01-09-2009, 10:10 PM No. No CDL. I dont have DOT tags on the truck or trailer so there is no need. I dont pull the backhoe every day. just on the weekends doing side jobs. I just hope for the best and hope to god they dont weigh me. I drag hay around all the time but tha'ts farm use.
It's not the DOT tags that matter, it's the fact that the combined gross weight of truck and trailer are over 26k.
I'm not one to judge because even if I hook my International Dump(which is under a CDL itself) up to my gooseneck unloaded, I'd be well over 26k combined GVWR.
I might be looking at testing for my CDL with that set up.
Also not to mention the fact if they stop you they'll ring you up for being over the combined GVWR of the truck itself.
But like I said, I'm not one to talk, just thought I'd point it out.
farm boy 01-09-2009, 10:15 PM Thanks. I mostly stick to the back roads when towing that one. The other heavy one is when I pull our 105 horse tractor and a 15ft batwing mower on that same trailer. That is a truck killer. Needless to say, my next truck will probably be a dually.
BMF7.3 01-10-2009, 08:50 PM mine has pulled 117,000+lbs.
In how many trips?

In MD, if the vehicle is tagged as a Farm Truck or Farm Area Vehicle, then you don't need a CDL.

superih 02-03-2009, 12:29 PM I am from Remus, currently working/living in Holland, mainly pull in the central to eastern side of the state though, that is where the competition is.
I make it over by you a couple times a month, you know where Oakley is, great setup and tough competition there and a lot of good guys.
I pull in Corunna, Saline, Oakley, Stockbridge, Fowler, Remus, Blanchard, Wauseon, OH and for 2 years have made it down to the grand daddy of them all Tunica Mississippi, some wicked $hit that far down south.

I bid the load and got the bid :hehe:
I know the guy I hauled it for to, lives in town and is working running SVO.
He wants to pick up a 7.3 powerstroke since I talked him into one now. :D
The guy also wants to set my truck up to run on it when he gets all his oil ready to go into a vehicle
Yesterday I bid another load he had, he wanted me to haul it anyways so I quoted him a price. He bought a 99 Mercedes Benz 300 Turbo Diesel in chicago, so I got to go to chicago and pick it up for him. I have to Say its a REALLY nice car and he got a hell of a deal on it.

What is the max speed when haulin such a load? Like the U-haul trailors, keep it under 50mph? :hehe:
ford7.3sd 03-26-2009, 04:40 PM i recommend less than idol speed. so around 3 or 4 mph, 5 is pushing it. and if it hits a bump it comes off the ball, then you have a mess to deal with.

Why does it have rails if its a deckover?

justintimemoto 05-04-2009, 02:01 AM its my dad gf's dads old trailer and he bought it....i think it is home maid im goin to take a pick of it tomorro it has I beams for the frame so ya idk im not makeing this up idk the exact foot of the trailer but i am pretty sure its arounf 35 ft give take idk but all i know is its alot of hay behind u.....yea he has more bails on that trailer but its a goose neck i think he get around 21 bails or so i think
crazystroke97 05-04-2009, 03:44 AM if I seeing right that trailer has 25 bale on it
justintimemoto 05-04-2009, 10:16 AM correct but siledge bails weigh more.......but those bails could be bailed tighter and bigger its no bige deal ....only thing different is he is pulling w a goose neck and his trailer is a little longer probably.

I know that. Behind a dump truck or the like. Not behind a pickup. The trailer shouldn't have any problem handling that weight. The truck isn't going to be very happy though.

I disagree with you this rigs gross weight is in then 28k-29k neighborhood not even close to a previous rig at 43k or the 550 at 37k we normally pull that dozer with the 550 or the dump truck but it has been pulled by the smaller trucks when needed oh you must have missed the fact that my brother owns the only single wheel F550 :D:D:DLOLLOLLOL

Single versus dual rear wheel doesn't really matter when you're talking loads that heavy behind a pickup.
Get in a wreck and seriously injure or kill someone with any of those loads and have the DOT and/or Highway Patrol look at weights and GVWR, and THEN tell me that you disagree, and they're a safe load.
I'd say you'll be paying fines and restitution for years, because your insurance will find out you were overloaded, and they'll tell you to go take a hike too.
Either way, you're screwed. So get your class A CDL and do it the right way, and the safe way.

Make sure you go to the DMV near JDG, they apparently give them away with no testing there.

I'll agree I wouldn't pull that bulldozer on a tag with that truck very far. But that dozer on a gooseneck behind a dually or possibly a single would haul it no problem within the regs. According to the DOT I don't have to be within the sticker on my door, as long as I have proper plates, insurance, and my licensing they could care less if I have a pallet on my trailer or two of those bulldozers.

The trailer brakes we're stopping me good, I have a controler hooked up. I need to do a rear disc conversion, not a big fan of drums.
countryboyrob 07-14-2009, 05:39 PM add more power too. we both should do the rear disc conversion one day
cowboy_dan 07-14-2009, 06:31 PM On the 3rd I was helping a guy bale some hay, ended up having to pull some of it back to the barn down the road, 105 bales on the trailer.
To get out of the field you have to hit the gate at an angle, and there's about 3" on each side of the trailer to the fence posts. Oh, and it's a pretty steep (but short, thank God) climb through the gate and up to the driveway and to the road.
But, if you hit the gate at the wrong angle, you have to go down the other side of the driveway into the yard, make a big circle to hit the shallowest slope possible on the remaining part of this side of the driveway, and hope the load doesn't roll off.
The guy I was working with was using his 1/2 ton chevy gasser. It was tempting to pass him on the road jst for fun, but we weren't going far, no straps on the loads, and I didn't have any trailer brakes.
Cat,
Last year I had 2yds of gravel in a trailer, and 2.5-3 yds topsoil in my bed. Poor truck really wanted 4.10 gears then.

ross3031 08-16-2009, 11:41 PM If i had to guess forklift and trailer 15kish... it doesnt seem too heavy really.
It doesnt look to heavy in the pic but i garuntee its more than that. I'd be willin to bet somewhere around 18K+ for just the forklift. The skid steer is roughly 8K and that forklift is easily twice that
MILFORD 08-17-2009, 12:37 AM Yeah forklifts have a lot of counter weight in the rear of them and that thing was no small forklift. I would go with 18K+
desertwheeler 08-17-2009, 09:06 PM I didnt get a chance to weigh it like i wanted but it towed its great. It was too centerd on the trailer in that pic. Today i pulled it forward 8 inches and it was perfect. Im thinking it only weighs about 10k. It just didnt feel too heavy it even stopped great with only half the brakes working on the trailer(has 8 tires and brakes).

pics can be decieving, she was beyond repair, completely rusted through the floorboards, roof, and door jambs. bad frame/front suspension damage. lost title. both head gaskets were blown, the bed was beat to a pulp and the body looked like an ocean waving at ya. the whole truck was thrashed and abused by the previous owners two stupid teenagers as their first rig, she went through hell and didnt make it back:( :blah:..... and the list went on lol. we did salvage the 9" rearend and the 80% tread, 35" bfg m/t's. believe me it was hard to do but she just wasnt worth restoring. she went to a good home at an all ford truck parts yard.
