Cowboyup 01-18-2010, 03:53 AM that doesnt look half bad, you might want to put some support pieces on so that for more strength, but for your first that looks good
530farmboy 01-18-2010, 04:01 AM It looks good, are you going to make the cut out for the 3rd brake light
ridiesel 01-18-2010, 04:12 AM the back rack clears over the 3rd brake light.but i will be adding back up lights / spot lights in there somehow, just dont know where im going with them yet .
ridiesel 01-18-2010, 05:30 PM well finished mocking it up and it seems that the angles of the rack are not congruent ... which is pissing me off. what do you guys think / ideas / do you notice it that much or is it just me .

PowerstrokeR00 01-18-2010, 05:48 PM notice wat?;)
93 Indirect Injected 01-18-2010, 07:38 PM it looks pretty good
pstroke96 01-18-2010, 08:31 PM looks real good but i know what you mean its really close and noones going to notice it but you.. but its gonna drive you crazy so you could cut the welds and give it another go but it looks good enough to me id leave it how it is
ridiesel 01-18-2010, 09:18 PM i think i might leave it. lesson learned from this one is that you shouldn't build during a rain storm. i think it would have been easier to do with building it directly on the truck instead of going from the truck to the garage and so on and so forth.
Cowboyup 01-19-2010, 04:17 AM what kind of lights are you looking at getting? i am actually selling off a couple of the ones i was going to use on mine
ridiesel 01-19-2010, 12:26 PM i haven't looked into it all that much yet, what you got? haha
Cowboyup 01-19-2010, 04:49 PM pm sent
West-Coast-Strokin 01-20-2010, 02:23 AM well finished mocking it up and it seems that the angles of the rack are not congruent ... which is pissing me off. what do you guys think / ideas / do you notice it that much or is it just me .

cut those tubed arms off and use flat bar for the arms looks and will be easy to level and square up !
vader's fury 01-20-2010, 03:27 PM That and take a grinder to the welds around the seams where the diff pieces of steel butt together and smooth them down. It will make it look like it was made out of one piece of steel. Just remember not to take to much off.
cowboy_dan 01-20-2010, 07:45 PM Before you go nuts making the rack straight, make sure the cab and bed are level.
I'm not sure if it's my bed, cab, or frame, but there is a very slight misalignment in the paint lines LH to RH on my truck between the bed and cab.
ridiesel 03-09-2010, 12:52 PM well, finally got around to priming and painting it all up. slapped her on and here are the final results. comments welcome.

93 Indirect Injected 03-10-2010, 12:58 AM looks good man! good job
abbottfarms 03-10-2010, 11:43 PM Looks good. Especially for the first attempt. Only thing I would change if it were mine would but the height of it, I would make it slightly lower, closer to the height of the cab. But bear in mind that everyone has there own preferences and uses. Good job.

norris 03-16-2010, 02:08 PM way to go man! think im going to make one for my 03... i can see my hired hand sending something thru the window
for lights id go to a tractor supply and buy 3x5 cheap tractor flood lights. ahd them on my dodge flatbed and man they would light up a football field. had 4 of them on the bed and mounted them so i could rotate.... nice job!
