Disc Brake Upgrade Suggestions -- 2001 F350

I would like to significantly upgrade my front and rear disc brakes on my 01 F350 crew cab dually 4X4. -- I pull a 15,000 lb GVWR 5ver and as hard as I try to be careful and not to, I have warped my rotors 3 times now. I want a brake system designed to stop heavy loads.

I have a great Banks exhaust brake that has been just fine for controlled speed downhill grades. The warping problem and lack of stopping power comes mostly in towns or the open road when a little to quick a stop becomes needed and the Banks can't become effective that quickly.

I believe that it was in about 03 that Ford realized they had a warping problem and finally upgraded the brakes. If I'm going to upgrade my 01, I want to do it to the highest degree practically possible.---------- Any thoughts guys on after market options ?

what pads were you using up to now? When I replaced my brakes I used the Ford OEM number which is DIFFERENT than the Motorcraft replacements. The OEM pads stop me great. I tow a 16ft BRI-MAR dump trailer, and have been to 13-14k several times. I will say that trailer has some GREAT brakes, I can dial up the brake controller and the trailer will whoa the whole rig on dry pavement.

What brake controller are you using? My Genisis will stop the whole rig any time I get all the way into the brakes and if I hit the manual and it will lock up the trailer at any speed. My toyhauler loaded is about 13,000+. I do a lot of mtn towing and the city traffic here in Phx is nuts. Never had a problem since I bought this controller.

You could probably upgrade to a set of 550 axles, if you have mechanical ability, and an imagination.

Other than that, I'd suggest checking out how good the trailer brakes are/ brake controller.

Or powerslot and hawk pads.

I have a Tekonsha Envoy model controller.

The problem isn't the truck brakes, its the trailer brakes. The trailer should be stopping its own weight.

I would put electric over hydraulic brakes, preferably disks on the trailer. They stop much, much better than electric puck drum brakes.
