Choupique108 11-08-2009, 05:24 PM Hey Fellas i just purchased a set of tinted 05+ headlights and they are tinted. Granted the fact that they look awesome, Id like to take the tint off bc the lights are still bright but they do not shine far like my stock 03s did. I know i can get the tint off but what could i use to get the glue from the tint off the headlights. Im think rubbing alcohol but i dont want to yellow the lights. What else would work
Thanks
slowleak 11-08-2009, 05:43 PM i forget where your at, but me and my buddy do vinyl graphics and such. if you bring the lights by we will take the tint off, we have some stuff specifically for removing tint/vinyl.
Choupique108 11-08-2009, 05:47 PM man if i was home id go but im in wisconsin till dec. and i think the tint is gonna make it hard to see in the snow... I dont guess you would want to send me some of that stuff?;)
Choupique108 11-08-2009, 10:49 PM anyone else have some ideas?
smokinstroker 11-08-2009, 10:51 PM put them up for sale or trade, im sure someone on here would take em and send you some factory ones in exchange
davey99ps 11-08-2009, 10:54 PM Where in wisconsin are you?
Choupique108 11-09-2009, 01:30 AM im in shawano wi. Im working with Genex.
davey99ps 11-09-2009, 01:32 AM Ive got a friend who deals with tint and removing it, but were both in southern wisconsin
Choupique108 11-09-2009, 02:58 AM Could you ask him and see what he uses?
Zrock 11-09-2009, 03:01 AM Go to any automotive store that sells tint. They make a adhesive remover that will remove the glue pretty easily. I used it worked awsome
davey99ps 11-09-2009, 03:06 AM Yea, ill talk to him tomorrow and let ya know
slowleak 11-09-2009, 03:37 AM if he has the tint i think he has, it isnt regular window tint.
chopique, PM sent
Choupique108 11-09-2009, 12:37 PM no its not regular tint.... its thicker than reg. tint
Zrock 11-09-2009, 02:45 PM ya but the adhesive remover will still remove the glue. I have both installed headlight tint and removed it... A hair dryer to soffen up the glue and start peeling. Then use the adhesive remover when your done and wipe off the glue
squeak12 11-10-2009, 07:54 PM Is is actual tint film or spray on tint?
jimdawg185 11-10-2009, 08:05 PM I have tinted for years. Most of the time they use spray on for this. There are things that can take it off, but it will most likely wreck the lights as well by smudging the lens. IF it is the film, ammonia works to get the adhesive off, but you will want to test to make sure you don't, again, wreck the lens. If I were you I would sell them to some one looking for such things and buy what you want.
Choupique108 11-11-2009, 12:41 AM no fellas its actual Tint. Its thicker then actual window tint
Zrock 11-11-2009, 04:24 PM you could contact these cuys and see what they recomend
Lamin-x Protective Films - Protect with Style (http://www.lamin-x.com/)
slowleak 11-11-2009, 04:37 PM the stuff he has on his headlights is not regular tint like everyone is reffering to. and i would radther not say what it is since the graphics/tint world is so cut throat these days...i can tell you its NOT a "film" and alchohol will NOT take off the glue. if anyone cares to know feel free to pm me.
Zrock 11-11-2009, 04:43 PM the link i supplyed is only a option. As i have used this stuff and it is much thicker than standard window tint. their could be 1 of 100 diffrent things that is on his lights and without seeing them no one can be 100% Not trying to piss anyone off just giving him options
Choupique108 11-12-2009, 01:14 AM yea im looking for the stuff slowleak told me about without hardly any luck. No one has it local so i guess im gonna have to order it.
Zrock 11-12-2009, 02:19 AM i used the Lamin-x on our jetta... It was great stuff to work with and pretty forgiving when u made a mistake. I pulled it off and started over severall times and unless you look hard you do not know they are tinted... well other than the fact that i used blue..LOL... I used Blue on the headlights and a smoke on the taillights Looks great...
theSLEEPER 11-25-2009, 04:17 PM Anyone that posted that they have tint have any pictures?????
